Just out of Curiosity...
« on: January 16, 2004, 03:54:07 pm »

I was just wondering if MC 10 was ever going to improve on a couple of features....

1.)  Web Media is MC10 needs to be improved.  There needs to be more stations (which may or may not be under J River's control).  I would like to see Web Media on the Action Window.  Web Media seems burried to me.  Also, a  lot of the stations used in Web Media require Real Player.  Is there any way MC could provide the proper codec as a part of installation (as is done with Windows Media codecs)?

2.)  I think it would be nice if users had the ability to customize what their action window.  IE geting rid of camera or handheld (because we don't have the devices)

3.)  Are there plans for MC to EVER bring in MP3pro support?  This is the main thing that make me have to install MusicMatch (I know... I know I shudder too) on my system.  I have my entire library encoded at 80 Kbps MP3pro.  It would be nice to have everything I need right here in MC.   I understand there are high licensing fees involved   :(.

4.)  Perhaps the only other reason someone would use MusicMatch (doh!!! would be they offer "Super Tagging."  Is there any way for YADB to ask berfore changing tags.  Maybe there is more than one option of which that song(s) could belong.  Sort of...bringing the best of Super Tagging to MC.

5.)  It would be nice if we had the option to export/import custom equalizer presets.  There are a lot more presets out there then just what is provided with MC by default.

Maybe this is just a wish list....but it's worth a shot.

We can't install the Real Player codec.  You can install a good version of Real.  There is a link in the FAQ.

Not possible now.  Maybe some day.

Right and that's why it isn't supported.  No plans to support it.

YADB won't tag unless you've told it to.  There are settings for this.

I don't think it will do this.

Check the plugin thread and a plugin called auto equaliser.
Describe what you mean about 'loading in pre-sets' in there and give an example of what these files look lilke with the pre-sets so I can see if it'd be possible to load the info from the plugin.

MC vs. MM tagging
« Reply #3 on: January 19, 2004, 02:10:27 pm »

I'd like to respectfully echo the request for improved tagging.

I keep MusicMatch on my computer for only two reasons:

1) Excellent radio service.
2) Very useful super tagging.

Let me clarify how the MM tagging is particularly helpful:
- It offers at least a few alternatives for almost every query.  This would be very helpful in cases in which MC incorrectly keys in on one aspect of a tag and delivers incorrect information.
- It lets you batch a group of items to tag, and then lets you individually approve each potential match separately, significantly besting an all-or-nothing Undo option.

Thanks for taking this into consideration.
