Critical Error- Library failed to load

I tried running Media Center today and got this scary error message:

Media Center failed to load the library 'Default'.
Then i clicked OK and got this mesage:

Critical Error!
Media Center failed to load any library. This is a critical error, and the program must stop running. Please re-install the latest version.

I was running Version: 9.1.316.0

Is my library gone, or is there something else I could try? I tried rebooting to no avail - I just keep getting the error messages.


Of course I didn't backup my library - that would have been the smart thing to do...

Do a search for the database files (.jmd files).  They are probably in a non-standard location.  You can change the location under library manager.

I am having the exact same problem on my old computer (I'm in the process of switching to a new computer, copying and moving files).

I need more specific instuctions however. I looked in the J River\MC\Data folder. At the end of the menu of folders are the following files: browser.jmd, curplaylist.jmd, mediafiles.jmd, playlists.jmd, removable.jmd.

Are these the files JimH mentioned and if they are, where are they supposed to be? And should I just restall MC and then put all the saved files back ?

Unfortunately, the last time I saved my library was in October, some 6000 files ago.

Yes, Modelmaker those are the files for your library, playlists and current playing now list.  I wouldn't bother moving them, just use Library Manager in MC to point at them.
