3D Picture Cube Resolution seems reduced lately
« on: April 04, 2004, 02:02:45 pm »

I often have the 3D Picture Cube visualization running when I'm listening to a track.  Lately, it seems the cover art display is looking less sharp, especially when zoomed in.  I try to use images that are at least 300x300.

I checked file properties, and the location is still the same place on my hard drive as in the past.

Has there been a change in MC that would affect this?  Or, is there a setting than needs to be set to give me clearer Picture Cubes? Thanks.

No reactions yet, BullishDad, to your problem with 3D Picture Cube Visualization? It seems that noone else but you and me experience this problem.

Never mind -- it'll be fixed next build.

Thanks Matt
By the way: I'm running MC version 10.0.106 Release Candidate 1.
Looking forward to 10.0.107.

Actually, I'd noticed it too for a few versions now :-)

I have the latest.  It used to work fine.

I am downloading again, but not holding out hope.  Will let you know tomorrow, going home now.

Windows Update said nothing was needed, but downloading and reinstalling DirectX did the trick.

Wierd, but good.

Thanks

DirectX 9.0 had a bug when first released.  You may have downloaded the fixed version.

Actually, now it's not working again.  I have not restarted, I have not installed any new software, I'm using all the same programs I normally use, Outlook, Media Center (obviously), IE, Mozilla, and my mortgage software.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I will provide whatever is need to help diagnose.

Thanks

And now it's working again ?

I just shut down IE (2 instances) and Mozilla, and it's working again.  I opened all 3 instances of these browsers, and it still works.  I shut down MC, with the browsers open, reopened MC, and it still works.

I have the browsers pointing to the same locations they were before (I'm pretty sure), but it's still working.

Sorry, I cannot think of anything else to try.  There is a bug of some sort, but I cannot yet provide you a step-by-step to recreate.

Good luck.  I'll post again if I figure it out.

My Problem is trying to get any 3D vis to appear at all...

i get an error message that says error starting 3D visualizations (error finding compatible stencil format)

i ran DxDiags and it passed the 3D tests fine.

Is there anything i could do to fix this stencil problem ?

....short of getting another graphics card
