Media Center 12.0.240
« on: May 23, 2007, 10:03:07 am »

This is the latest version of MC 12.0.  Any MC12.0 license will work with it.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.

This latest build (usually safe) of MC12.0 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/MC12/MediaCenter120240.exe

12.0.240 (5/22/07)

1. Changed: The shortcut for paste "Listening To" into another program is Ctrl+Shift+F12. (instead of Ctrl+Alt+F12)
2. NEW: Shortcuts in Resource.xml can be specified "global" so that they are translated even if MC is minimized or not the current application.
3. Changed: Revised new playback command system for DVD, video, TV, etc. (please report any keyboard shortcuts that don't work as expected)

The problem noted for the 12.0.222 release still exists:

The problem of txt files being classified as "Playlist" indtead of "Data" still exists. As a consequence txt files cannot be "played" (that is it's impossible to use them within MC).
Thamks for attention.

Strange bug with Playlists:

until deleting Imported Playlists, I couldn't see any other Playlist groups and Send To them. My 4 Playlist groups showed up where before only Imported Playlists was displayed.

Locked up Playlist, same group twice in the last ten minutes; MC might be having a pronblem with a tagged image?

What is drive L?  And are there any "foreign" or "special" characters in any of the files in the playlist?

Next time it happens, wait 20 minutes to see if anything recovers.

When media center is being run is ReadOnly mode, e.g. when another instance has the right to write to the library, Auto Downloads of podcasts should be disabled by default. As things are now, unless this is manually reset each time when running MC, multiple instances of MC will try to download the same podcast.

Note: another alternative would be to make the "Auto Downloads of podcasts" setting sticky from run to run so that the client would remember how this was set and set it the same the next time MC was run. Of course this would have to be linked to the Client PC and not the library, otherwise this approach would not solve the problem.

I would like to know if it's so now by design or if it's a bug. It used to work  until a few builds ago. In the meanwhile I've also installed the FLAC input plug-in, and am unable to specify if the problem arised with the newer builds or with FLAC.

An answer, please.... I have started a work with txt files (integrating composer biographies in my MC data base) and need to know if I have to convert everything to rtf (which works correctly) or can expect a correction....

Please!
Luigi

P.S. I know that i could put biographies in the single mp3 files, but it would mean a tremendous waste of space! It was so easy to point at the composer txt file and "play" it without disturbing what I was listening to!

Pressing alt-space to get to the minimize, restore, etc. menu has frequently been causing MC to crash recently (under Vista at least).
Other times the menu appears twice as wide as it should be.

Key commands for slideshow control aren't working for me.

Pg Up & Pg Down don't change the image, and Space doesn't start or stop the slideshow.
(right click commands still work, btw).

I think both were working before build 240.

It is theoretically possible that I twiddled a setting somewhere and broke it myself, but I can't find any such settings to untwiddle.

Either way,  I'm in need of suggestions or advice on how to control the images with key cmds.

I can make MC hang at will today.

First, rename a bunch of files from properties, then open the right click menu. If at this point the message asking if I want to delete the empty folder pops up under the menu, MC hangs.

Secondly, every time I'm looking at my recently imported, bring up lyrics from the search wizard, select all and exclude, MC hangs. By the way, is there an easier way to filter tracks without lyrics in a view. I'm typing  lyrics=  in the search box and nothing is happening.

Cheers.

It's a known issue.  It's fixed in 242 and later -- hopefully available here soon.

Last two nights I'm coming to home to MC reporting Out Of Memory message window. I close it and a new one appears. Nothing running except media server.

Feature change request...

My wife just returned home for a few weeks, and took her laptop with her.  I forgot to copy our latest photos to her laptop to show her Family, and now I'm in the doghouse.  My bad.

In an effort to avoid this in the future, I decided to make her laptop a handheld to sync the photos, and her favorite music.  I keep most of our photos in either their original size (7mp - 3072 x 2304) or slightly downsized for 8 x 10 printing (2100 x 1575).  Either way, they're way too large to fit all of them on her laptop with her music.

I looked at the options for conversion to a handheld and see that I can downsize them, but only to 640 x 480 or 320 x 240.  Both of these options are smaller than I would prefer.

Is there any way to either add a larger option (1024 x 768) or make it customizable?

I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hi all,

In recently releases (I first noticed in 226), there seems to have been a change in the way theatre view handles audio view schemes, ie. now it just doesn't.  I have a blank base audio view scheme and several underneath so that when I click audio from within theatre view, I get a choice of how I would like to browse my audio - my artist, by album, by genre etc... now it seems whatever I do, theatre view always shows me a breakdown by genre?  Has something changed (I've checked now on two different PCs)....

With thanks,
Phil

Search Bug:
If I search for something, then change the location (eg. move from audio to playing now) the search will disappear.  However, if I then change to a different view (e.g. a different tab) it will continue to show the search results within that tab, although the search bar will be empty.

Smartlist editor bug: i have defined this smartlist:

[Media Type]=[Audio] [Genre]=[Computer] [Album]=[Perfect Collection Ys] [Rating]=>3 [_dupe]=<=1 ~sort=[Random]

When i click on the "Album" dropdown in the smartlist editor to add some other albums to the rule, a _lot_ of albums are simply missing from the list.

I don't know if this is expected behaviour, but i do get albums that should be filtered out by the other rules (for example, i'm getting albums from other genres, etc.).

on vista x64 :
-closing media server from the task bar does not stop the library server service (displayed in the Service & Plug-ins > library Server page) nor does it start it when launched from the advanced tools menu. are these 2 separate things ?
-Media libraries just deleted with the library manager are still present within the clone option from the Add libraries menu.

I get the following error on certain DVD Rips (e.g. ripped with DVD-Shrink):

The track named 'VIDEO_TS' cannot be played because the volume labeled 'Unnamed Disc (12)' was not found.

Other playes e.g. Nero ShowTime, InterVideo are playing the DVD without any problem.
