Doc Cilantro crash on rar and mkv files
« on: October 25, 2008, 09:48:20 pm »

Since .534 I'm seeing crashes related to video files, stopping an Xvid crashed with Error: 275 in the log, and seeking with an MKV locked up video playback and crashed MC when stopped:

I use one display, as noted in my ATI Control Panel, not two.

Not sure what the multi-monitor log entries are for.

Doc Cilantro crash on rar and mkv files

Playing music and navigating to a folder with tree crashed MC:

There are about 40 files and thus entries like above listed in the log prior to the crash.

What IS this 275 exception?

I'm reproducing the crash noted above consistently now. Navigating with the tree to a folder file of files seems to overload MC and cause a crash while listening to music or watching a video file. Crashes on stop start or when load files on browse into folder.

Lots of this:

0155765: 2536: Playback: CPlayerZone::Stop: Firing stop to playback engine
0155765: 2536: Playback: CDisplaySettingsHelper::EnumDisplaySettings: Start

I narrowed down the cause:

After selecting a folder in the tree.

When the file list displays all the files in the folder, I move to the top of the list but before I click the 1st file I happen to mouseover the tab text above the 1st file, this triggers a crash.

This particular folder has one .mkv file and about 40 .rar files.

Doesn't appear 100% repeatable but crash can just as easily occur when trying to select a file.

MC doesn't play rar files.

So browsing a folder which contains them should trigger a crash?

I doubt it's related specifically to .rar files.

"The error 0xC0000005 is generated by an illegal "memory access violation". This can be caused by anything from faulty RAM, an incorrect/corrupt device driver, poorly written/updated software and more commonly under Windows XP Service pack 2, malware/adware installations.
Usually you get this error message when performing a specific task."

I'd say out of 10 tries MC crashes 4 times, so keep it all all ; )

I'm wondering if it's graphics driver related. I'll update to the newest, and try again.

I just updated the ATI driver. If anyone cares to help verify and fiddle with the tree selecting various folders etc., please enable tabs.

Just crashed MC with same 275 unhandled exception with MC playing audio and scrolling down to select a different album tile:

Can anyone run 1920x1080 and play with MC for a few days....I'm trying to think what is unique about my system. I am running the memtest that Matt has rec. here before (two instances using all RAM for 24 hours).

Using newest drivers for major devicesi.e. ATI, EMU, chipset, etc.

A/V is Nod32....seeing this behavior with both 2.5 and the new 3.x version.

Machine feels snappy as all heck......
