176.4 Problem
« on: October 29, 2011, 08:16:56 am »

I bought a wonderful recording from MA Records (Opening by Mathias Landaeus) which arrived on a DVD-ROM data disc with 24 bit 176.4 WAV files on it.

I tried copying the files to my hard drive and I can hear the music but have a lot of static type distortion. Also tried converting to FLAC same issue.

The files play fine using Foobar but not J River 16.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

PC -> Berkeley Alpha USB -> Berkeley Alpha DAC -> Modwright 36.5 Preamp -> Nuforce Ref 9 V3SE -> Von Schweichert VR-33's

Get the latest build of MC from the download page.

Try ASIO, WASAPI, and WASAPI Exclusive.  ASIO should work if you have a driver from the manufacturer.

And take a look here:

Oddly it only has the bad noise while using WASAPI (either mode) but is OK in DS - this is the case for J River 16 and Foobar
