Optimum audio settings for new user.
« on: November 12, 2011, 07:32:37 am »

Hello ,

I recently switched to Media Center from WMP12 and liked it so much I bought a licence straight away.

Whilst I was on WMP12 I was enhancing the sound with SRS Audio Essentials ( which worked very well ).

As a new user to Media Center I would be very grateful if someone could help with the following question : -

Will I still get any benefits from running the SRS Audio Essentials alongside the MC and , if so , what settings would I need to have on the MC to generate the best sound possible .

Thanks for any help you can give.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your purchase.

It would be better not to add other software unless you need it.  MC has DSP Studio under Audio options, where you can apply effects if you wish.

You could read the articles on "Audio" on our Wiki to learn more.  Try setting output to WASAPI or ASIO if your device supports it.

Thanks for the quick reply and advice .

I've selected WASAPI in the output mode and an output format that works ( 48KHz and 16-bit ) but the sound still seems to have more clarity and depth when I start up SRS Audio Essentials.

As you say in your post , I think I need to do a lot more reading in the Wiki ( I've been spending too much time on the MC eye candy -- sorting out my favourite album views , changing skins etc !! ).

Thanks once again.
