DSP studio & Sample rate change
« on: December 31, 2011, 06:11:39 am »

Hi,

I'm new to J River Mecia center. My version is 16.0.181 evaluation.

When I enable DSP studio and change the resampling/bit depth settings, nothing seems to happen. On my oscilloscope the sampling rate stays the same. And going down to 8 bit audio doesn't lead to audible degradation.

Am I missing some settings there?

The driver for the USB Audio device I'm using (www.qnktc.com/ab_11) is set at 24/192. This is also the output rate I'm getting at the DAC side, regardless of the sample rate I set in J River Media Center.

Thanks for any help!

Are you using ASIO or WASAPI?

I believe WASAPI. I have ASIO4ALL installed, but I don't believe there is native ASIO support in the driver.

You'll need to use WASAPI exclusive mode to change the hardware sample rate or else Windows or the driver will resample it to the card's clock rate:

Then, double-check that the DSP says 'Enabled and processing data' at the top while playing audio.

Thanks!

Should I use WASAPI or WASAPI Event Style? I belive I had "Allow applications to take exclusive control..." and "Give exclusive mode applications priority" set at the time.

But I'll rerun tests when I have the oscilloscope at hand again.

WASAPI Event Style is recommended over plain WASAPI if your hardware supports it.
