Check auto import settings.  Try browsing to the directory you want from there.

Does MC have disk access to the folder you are trying to import?
Look in System Preferences->Security and Privacy->Privacy->Files and Folders.

Checked auto import settings, once browsing to the directory I want, it crashed. Actually, looks like it only accept auto import, if I want to set import, it crash immidiately

Look in System Preferences->Security and Privacy->Privacy->Files and Folders.

Checked and added MC28 to the table of "Allow the apps below to control your computer". Restart iMac, tried to import one folder, it crashed.

Probably I have to re-download MC28, and try again?

Try reinstalling MC.  Downloading again isn't necessary.

This is the exact same problem i am having. I think this is an issue with MC 28.0.98. To verify this, i went back to 28.0.96 and it works perfectly. There is something related to 28.0.98 that is causing this problem.

Try 100 at the top of this board. It should fix all of the issues.

Are you using antivirus software?

Are the files on a local drive?

Hi, I'm on the trial period and completely new to this, version 28.0.103. Large music library on external HD. When I try to import it, JRiver crashes. I don't think I have access to older versions to try as stated above. Any idea what I can do?

I have two machines that auto updated to the latest version of 28. One on big sur, the other on el capitan. They both crash on import or if you set up a new auto import. I tried the security setting with input monitoring, accessibility, files and folders, screen recording.. No use. I went back to the previous version of 28 that worked on both machines and they auto updated on restart. I have used 3 license restores in the process. The only way I can currently import is dragging a folder into the player and import from there.. bad time to be moving things between computers. Any thoughts? Is there a way to prevent them from updating from the previous version?

Can I do change version in the trial period? It's hard to try MC and make up my mind about it when I cannot upload music in it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, you can update while using the trial version.

Sorry, Bob, I saw the update too late and the issue is fixed in 28.0.104. The issue did not arise on the MacBook Pro (macOS 11.6.2)
Many thanks
