Error installing Media Center License
« on: December 03, 2003, 09:19:13 pm »

I purchased Media Jukebox 8.0 a couple of months ago and installed it with no problem.  I just recently purchased a new computer and installed the version, resored my key and upgraded to 8.400.  Can I install Media Center 9.0 over top of this?  I tried restoring my license both by web and from the .mjr file I was sent by e-mail.  This is the message below....

Error installing Media Center License
You are restoring a version 8 license which needs to be upgraded.

I followed the directions and have had no luck.  Do I need to spend another $40.00 to get the Media Center 9.0?  If so it doesn't seem worth it...

Please help!!!!

From one of the FAQ pages, this one.....

http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/buy_faq.html

I quote......
Quote
MJ Version 8 licenses purchased after December 3, 2002, can be upgraded to MC version 9.  The upgrade price is $19.98.

So, as you say you bought mj8 a couple of months ago, I guess that's the quote that applies to you. There have been a few posts about this in the past. If you really want MC9/9.1 I would just cough the upgrade price. The difference is only 4 or 5 dollars if my memory serves me well, and I reckon you'll still feel it's worth every penny. (or should that be cent :) )

I just think its bad when you purchase a good product four months ago and you need to purchase a $20.00 upgrade.  It seems as if I'm the only one too.  I told my brother about J river MJ/MC and he purchased a couple of days after me and his upgrade worked fine (loves it).  I'd like to be able to e-mail or speak to someone directly and have them send me a key that works.  I didnt relalize I would need to resort to an online chat forum (Not that there's anything wrong with that) to get product support.

I apologize for shooting off at the mouth!!!  I see the cut off date was Dec 3, 2002, not 2003.

well the price for MC9 is $39.98 and the price For MJ8 is $24.98

$39.98 - $24.98 = $15.00

Since The Upgrade Fee Is 19.98 To Move To Another Program The Upgrade Fee Is Really Only About $5.00

And most of that if not all of the $5.00 goes to Visa\Mastercard since they charge for the use of the card. they do not charge you but they always charge the company you buy from.

so basicly Visa\mastercard took your extra $5.00, you could have saved the $5.00 if you would have bought MC9 straight out.

MC9 Has been out for more than a Year and includes more options than MJ8 like TV, Video And A Better UI

I think you get a prize for the first apology ever recorded on Interact.  You can have KingSparta's Yugo when he gets his new one.  I hope you like the Mary Kay paint job.
