..I replaced the battery in the pod.  I can't get the computer, or MC10 or the ipod updater to recognize the pod.  The battery is operational and charged.  I get the picture of the file and !

I'm thinking that having the MC10 format (before changing and charging the battery)  might have something to do with the problem.  If that is the problem, does anyone know how to get me back to the ipod format so I can do the update, reformat in MC and reload my library?

Can you see the player from Explorer?  It should be named iPod.

You need to reset your iPod:

1. Make sure that iPod is plugged into AC power
2. Toggle the Hold switch on and off.
3. Press the Play/Pause and Menu buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears onscreen.
4. The iPod has been reset.

The ipod is charging.  I'm ridiculously busy but missing the pod; it's been away from power for so long that I'm concerned that it won't work if I hook it up to the computer with a firewire port.

I have tried the reset numerous times, to no end.  It seems that the last time I hooked it to the computer, it was recognized.  That's why I'm thinking I should try to format it.  I will retry the reset following the recent instructions that I got on this site.

Iget the "duhDUH" sound that you get when plugging in a new device, but it does not appear in Explorer.

Eventually, it goes back to disk mode and disconnects itself.

try running a quick format on it.  If necessary reload the software.
