New Version of the UPnP Server
« on: March 27, 2006, 04:20:12 pm »

Media Center 11.1.155 has a new version of the UPnP Server.

This has a couple of fixes that can show up in many ways. If a player plays the first second of a song and then restarts the song (DSM-320 I think), that is fixed. If a player shows an incorrect length, that may be fixed too.

John,

Now that it looks like you're getting back to the UPnP server, any chance you'll be able to attack some of these items:

Thanks...

John,

As you may be aware, Tommy (tjg001) has been having a few issues with Flac and his Roku Soundbridge.  http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=33441.0.

Because I'm not using the UPnP server here (Squeezebox runs on SlimServer), I'm having a hard time debugging it.  I've sent him a debug version and he's captured the logs for me.  They all seem to be OK as near as I can tell, right up until it crashes his system  :o

Is there something that the UPnP server does differently than the regular program?  I can't figure out why things play fine but don't get sent out OK.  Any extra variables in use?

TIA

UPnP playback should be the same, except for any conversions.  In the case of FLAC, it would need to be converted to something the UPnP device could play.

Is the UPnP server going to be worked on at all for v12?  I have a software UPnP client that needs the "search" feature to be implemented such that it can list the artists, albums, etc. without browsing the MC view schemes.

Hi cnbc,

I don't know. I have some things I'd like to do, but it depends on time. The search capability is about half implemented, but would still require a lot of work, so I don't know if it will make it into 12.
