Auto update library from DVD iso folder?
« on: December 10, 2012, 09:28:09 pm »

On my initial setup I had to import my DVD iso's and change some settings to look under data, everything worked great, the ISO's showed up under videos and I was able to tag them all. However when I add new ISO's to the folder they don't show up under videos. They show up under files but is there a way to get the to automatically show up under video and to be auto tagged?

I found this little bit of info here but I can't figure out where this setting is:
Quote
8. For new imports, Use 'tag on import' (in auto import) and set Media Type = If(IsEqual([File Type],iso,8),Video,[Media Type])

I found this little bit of info here but I can't figure out where this setting is:
Tools/Import/Autoimport, then Edit any folder.

From the wiki ...

Go to Tools > Options > File types. Under "Data", click on "Disk Image Files" and at the bottom of the window, select your preferred Playback Method from the drop down list.

Problem being, I have no "Data" section in file types. I've got it on one machine ... but of course, it's the wrong one. I imagine it's some silly little switch I forgot to flip (or worse yet, flipped) that's screwing me up here.

Hep me!

EDIT >> Found it. OPTIONS/DATA/FEATURES, and check "Data Support". Not sure if that's set OFF by default or if I fat fingered it somewhere along the way.

Yet another EDIT >> Got the ISO to load, but ...

Apparently this doesn't work with interactive DVDs? I was hoping to load up some music training DVDs to save having to do the shuffle when I get the urge ...

Did some more head scratching and decided JRiver isn't the tool for the job. Installed the following:
- ImgBurn (to create the ISOs
- Virtual Clone Drive (standalone, to mount the ISOs)
- VLC Media Player (to play the ISOs)

Working great.

Documents only appear if you have any imported.

ok thank you. for my problem, I discovered that it is not only the iso files that are no longer imported but all video files. For audio files, it works. I checked the path, it is good. I do not understand.

I found my newly imported videos in "playlist / recently imported". When I click on it, nothing happens. They do not appear in the video list.
What's wrong ?

I'm not expert on this, but an ISO file is a data file.  It happens to contain video content in your case.  There are some threads around here that discuss ISO files.

In MC options, you may have MC set to not display documents.  I think it's under General/Features, but there is a Search window at the bottom of the Options page.

Thank you for your interest in this problem. I discovered that I encounter this problem with all video files, in any format (iso, mkv ...).

You can edit the Media Subtype tag.  That will place them under Video.

Check your auto import settings and the filetypes section in MC settings.

Select the file and choose Tag in the Action Window (lower left corner).
