Is it possible to use JRiver with a Bluesound Node? In my (hypothetical) system, I'd have JRiver on my upstairs PC. Music files would be on the PC or on a NAS. The Bluesound Node is downstairs, connected to my stereo system. The Bluesound is designed to be the renderer with the Bluesound App as the controller. No need for JRiver. But I wonder if it's possible to still use JRiver and just use the Node as a means to get the music from the computer to the stereo. (I'm a relative newbie, so please excuse any misuse of terms!)

Welcome to the forum.

It appears that the Node doesn't use UPnP or DLNA.  It uses SMB, so it should show up as a drive or be able to copy files from a drive.

Maybe they've added something since the post.

It's hard to know what you could do with it, but you could use the trial version of MC to experiment.
