I attached a log below after a program restart after the most recent crash.  I'm wondering if the problem has to do with importing? I have a lot of folders MC watches for auto-import, but when I try a manual import, it crashes too.  So I'm wondering if that's it.

Can you narrow it down to a single file type?

Local files?  Or a NAS?

Everything is on external hard drives connected via USB.  I didn't have this problem at all prior to updating to 21.0.26, as I'd just run an Import prior to the update, FYI.

MC seems to be trying to add this file over and over again:

I:\Music\Rock Lossless\New.Order-Collection 1981-2008\Singles_20_26_20Compilation\2002_20-_20Here_20to_20Stay_20_28CDS_29_20_28NUCDP11_2C_200927_2045400_202_29\Here to Stay [Felix Da Housecat - Extended Glitz Mix].flac

Try moving that file somewhere else where MC can't see it.  If it still crashes, I would move that entire folder somewhere else.  It seems Felix is a BAD kitty!

If the program runs fine with "importing turned off" then I would suggest you try to import a few files one at a time to see if there is a specific file that is causing the problem. I have seen it where one bad file causes a problem.

If you just upgraded from one version of MC21 to another, you would not need to reimport the entire contents of your NAS as you would just use the same Library again.
What version are you upgrading from?

Yeah that file which blgentry mentions seems to somehow trip it up. If possible, maybe you can share this file with us, maybe by mail, by uploading it to Dropbox, Sky Drive, Google Drive, or similar? I'm hendrik at jriver dot com

Tried what blgentry suggested, and the import worked!  It is definitely a BAD kitty, though it purrs, i.e., plays fine on Foobar. 

I also shared with Hendrik the flac file in one of my Google Drive folders.

Did you notice that his path name had a dot in it in a rather abnormal part of the path. Maybe MC thinks it is a very long file extension...

I use dots all the time in movie paths, thats not a problem.

I'll have to document the next time it happens.  I have DEFINITELY seen a dot in the wrong place confuse MC into either not importing, or incorrectly importing a file.  I can't remember right now.  Must be the beer.

Other tracks were in that folder "New.Order-Collection 1981-2008," and they imported fine.  I actually shortened the file names, too, to make sure the 255 character thing wasn't the problem, but the only thing that would crash the program was this bad kitty file.

I tried to import your file, even in the same directory structure, unfortunately I couldn't produce any problems. I'm somewhat puzzled what happened.

I was going to try that myself, albeit with a new structure, since I moved the entire folder from the external hard drive to my PC's desktop.  Just thought I'd have you take a look at the file first.  Weird.
