Is there any way to password protect the remote server? If not, are there any plans for it? Ideally I'd like something where I can allow people to see what I'm listening to, but enter a username/password to actually control things.

Anyone experimented with anything like this?

Basic security is there: settings->options->general

Are we talking about the same thing? I mean the built in remote server (ie. tools->options->startup->run remote server). I don't see anything under general options for security settings.

Sorry - I was talking about Media Server. No there is no security on the remote server, but there is not a lot an attacker could do (change your volume). If you really want it, post a reply saying "Hey Matt I really want it".

Well, I'm probably being paranoid, but I come from a unix background/frame of mind where you worry about any open port and the possibility of an attacker finding some sort of buffer overflow or other exploit that would allow them to do really nasty things. I'm not particularly worried about anyone changing my volume or skipping a song on me. I guess it's not something I really want, but I think it should be on the low priority wishlist.
