When I try to play a second album in JRiver my pc crashes and blue screen error message says unexpected kernel mode trap. The first album always plays perfect and you can skip tracks, etc. But if I try to play a second album the pc crash occurs. If I close JRiver after playing one album and then restart JRiver I can play a new album as normal as long as I don't try to play more than one.  I have two Windows pcs (both Windows 10) and both crash identically. My Windows drivers are up to date. I followed Parasound's ASIO installation instructions exactly. My pc is brand new with  8mb ram, i5 with good benchmark score. I have tried every combination of JRiver setting I could think of (buffering, startup delay, ASIO, WASAPI....) Tried fresh installs ofParasound  ASIO drivers, various versions of JRiver, reinstalled Windows.

If some one with the same amp has theirs working with JRiver could you let me know what your Windows setting, JRiver settings are so maybe I could copy yours. Thanks for listening. :)

A blue screen is usually a hardware or driver problem.

Antivirus software can do it.

You could try something other than ASIO.

You could try another device.

Tried ASIO, WASAPI, Kernel - all crash.  My other dacs are 1.0 USB requiring no drivers and worked fine in JRiver. But maxed at 24/96 and no DSD. They also don't sound as good connected to the Parasound Integrated amp using its own dac (way, way better dac in it).  Both my Windows 10 pcs crashed identically. I will turn my Norton security off and try it again. I may try buying an Apple Mini if all else fails. Thanks for trying to help me. :)

Turned off my antivirus and still crashed. It plays an album, then when you try to play another album the crash occurs.

You can't rule out the antivirus software unless you uninstall it.

He could also try playing the albums in another program like Foobar to see if he can replicate the issue.

If it crashes he'd know it wasn't purely a JRiver issue. If it plays correctly then perhaps it is..

Did you try uninstalling the USB driver that you installed for the DAC?

I've uninstalled the Parasound ASIO drivers and reinstalled them several times on both my Windows 10 machines with same result. I am picking up a Mac Mini this morning and hopefully it will work ok. Parasound Technical people haven't been much help frankly.

Did you try uninstalling the ASIO drivers and any USB drivers you've installed and then using WASAPI?

In other words, try getting any Parasound software off the machine and rebooting it, and then use another sound driver like WASAPI.

Just removed Parasound drivers and rebooted. My only choices left in Windows Sound was Realtek and my soundbar. In JRiver my only choice sas Direct Sound, Disk Writer, Network Streamer, Null Output.

You should have a WASAPI choice, but try DirectSound.  See if you can set the device then.

Power everything down and back up.

Having the same problem.
I have a Parasound Halo, and in my Tools/Options/Audio Device, I can select
SPDIF Interface (Parasound-Digital Audio) [WASAPI]
PARASOUND-Digital Audio KS Direct [ASIO]
PARASOUND-Digital Audio [Kernel Streaming]
PARASOUND-Digital Audio [Direct Sound]

WASAPI is the only option that lets me play DSD and 24/96 and above.

I've tried many options including Window 8 and 10, and MC21 and MC20.

I did not have this issue when I was using an older machine using Windows 7.

If there is no known solution, I'll have to abandon MC and try a different Hi-Rez music servier. Too bad, because I like the way MC works.

Hi,
I am having the same problem using MC 22 with Windows 10 on a new PC, using a Parasound Halo Integrated amp. Was there ever a solution found for previous posters using MC 21?
Thanks!
