[Bitrate] fail...
« on: September 21, 2017, 01:33:44 pm »

I use the [Bitrate] field in a customized header display; it works fine when playing local audio files but, when playing URLs of the form...

http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/high/ak/bbc_radio_two.m3u8

[Bitrate] returns a null. It definitely works correctly in MC 22.0.21 (returning the bit rate of the stream) but seems to have failed by MC 23.0.7. I have these two versions of MC working alongside one another in separate virtual machines, so I'm quite certain that this function works as expected in 22 but not in 23.

A fix would be appreciated.

Could I request that one of the developers take a look at this, please.

That link doesn't work from JRiver headquarters or from Germany (I had Hendrik try).

So I don't think we can test.

Since it's BBC, you likely need a UK proxy or VPN to get it to work (assuming they don't already block those).

Try this one
48k
http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/nonuk/sbr_vlow/llnw/bbc_radio_two.m3u8

or this one
96k
http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/nonuk/sbr_low/llnw/bbc_radio_two.m3u8

Thanks for those. I can confirm that they exhibit the problem identically to the URLs I posted previously; that [bitrate] works as documented on MC22 and earlier but returns a null under MC23.

Thanks to Spike we now have some similar links that will probably work outside the UK, so some investigation of this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hendrik's got a fix coming in the next LAV that makes the bitrate of these streams get reported during playback.

Thanks Hendrik!

Muchas gracias!

Out of interest, what changed between MC22 & 23 that broke this function?

Please don't expect a description.  These things can be complex and I'd rather see the team working on other problems.
