I'm sending local (NAS storage) audio from MC to a dCS DAC via DLNA just fine. When I switch to Radio JRiver and select Jazz, I receive the error message below.

Any ideas?

Sending Radio Paradise to the same DLNA renderer works just fine. It's only Radio JRiver that has the issue.

I don't get the error messages, but radio paradise streams to dlna device nicely, but radio jriver just jumps through the tracks without playing.
 Not really a problem for me as I normally use usb digital in.

So we tested that here and it works playing to an Id (because it can play anything).

For other renderers, you will need to have something that supports whatever lossless file types the radio is sending.

Most of the streams now are .ape. Probably only MC and Volumio would be able to play those.

Well that explains nicely why the flac stream plays but the other doesn't. Must look into the Id.

I'm having issues getting this working, says it plays but no audio...is there an extra step in sending streaming audio to a renderer?  My MC / DLNA setup works with everything else.

Does your renderer play FLAC files?

Are you playing RP from the button on the Streaming page?

Yes I can play flac up to 192/24 no problem. I use DSP on another renderer to bring them down to 44/16 if necessary and that works fine too.

I try from the icon on the page on my windows client, and also from file -> play Radio Paradise on my Linux server and the result is the same.

Playing around with the gapless playback settings change the behaviour a little, but never result in any audio.

I guess the question I'm asking is is there something specific I need to do to allow streaming to a DLNA renderer, or should it just work?

It sounds like it is the latter in which case it may be I need to play around with my renderer / DSP settings.

Perhaps its the way I am attempting to play the stream to the renderer...? I always do right click -> send to, should this work?

Just had an interesting thought which leads me to question your reasons for Radio JRiver not playing correctly when streamed - I tried jriver radio's classical section and these behaved exactly like the ape files in the jazz section ........but these are flac files, so they should have played correctly. Something is amiss!

But how does it know where to go? RP will play locally on the MC server when I do that...how should I send it to a renderer?

Interestingly if I do the send to method, for a time in the renderer Playing Now window the track actually looks like it is playing - time ticks etc - for 3-5 seconds then bombs. Again though no sound on the renderer.

Click on the renderer first to select it, then go into streaming and click your button - as long as it is radio paradise.

What is your set-up and what settings do you have for media network? Hard to advise you without knowing. I am using 24.0.38 on windows 10 streaming to a pioneer n-50 then into a marantz amp.

I am using a 24.0.28 Linux MC server on Debian, and a 24.0.30 MC client on Win10.

I stream via DLNA to either a Cambridge Audio CXR120 AVR or a JBL Authentics L8 Network speaker for audio and to a Sony BR for video.

Content comes from a QNAP TS-453mini NAS where MC24 for Linux is hosted.

All connections are wireless and I leave audio at source settings for the CXR that can handle hi res natively but need to limit the JBL to 16/44 via DSP.

Streaming from the NAS works flawlessly with this setup, whether from the server, client or using JRemote.

It is only Radio streaming via DLNA that doesn't seem to want to work. The audio plays locally on either the server or client, but not to a DLNA renderer.

I would update your win 10 MC to latest version 24.0.38 and use that client to do the RP streaming to the cambridge. To see if there is any improvement in performance. Looks to me like your system should work ok. Do you have dlna servers set up on the client. I have my n-50 associated with an audiophile dlna server on my main pc (don't know if this makes a difference or not).

Apparently it does cos I have just tried streaming RP to my dumb dlnaTV which is associated with an mp3 dlna server and it works fine. So that might be the solution for you.

I'd also recommend updating the MC Debian server to 24.0.37 beta if you want to use Radio JRiver.

Thanks Swiv, I’ll give that a go and let you know how I get on.

It’s definitely something to do with how it is interacting with the renderer. I can see the RP track list come up but when I try and send it to the JBL speaker it plays silently for 5 seconds but skips through the track list without playing anything. This is how it behaves when playing off my NAS when the renderer is not configured correctly.

Funny though, I can play a flac file from the NAS, but with the same settings RP gives me silence.

What dlna servers have you set up on the client mc and the debian mc and have you associated them with your renderers? As for radio jriver I can't get that to stream at all, it is just acting like your radio paradise stream. But in jriver radio you can let it populate a playlist and save it and then pull it from the server to the dlna renderer.

Check the conversion settings for the DLNA Server in MC's options.

All DLNA renderers appear in both the client and the server, and historically they have all played without issue once I had set them up properly. I'm not using any ZoneSync or anything like that and each renderer has its own dedicated zone.

I'm assuming that given they can all play flac files streamed from my NAS, then the FLAC stream from RP should play as well. I'm a little reticent to play around with server settings etc as they all work really well.

@Jim my CXR doesn't convert files at all, set to original, and the JBL only converts files that have a higher rate than 88khz, I wouldn't think these would cause any problems with the RP stream given it is 16/44 flac.

I'll update both MC systems to those suggested later tonight and see how that goes.

The upgrade to the .37 beta release did the trick. Streaming from my Linux mc24.0.37 server to the Cambridge and
Derek Trucks is singing the praises loud and clear on RP.

Thanks everyone for your help, haven't tested the JBL yet but I'm assuming this has cracked it.
