This was already answered just two posts above your original one. No, JRemote2 is for Android only. The JRemote iOS app is being developed entirely separately by bob.

Is there a projected release date for JR2 for iOS?  Where do we submit defects enhancements or wishlists?

Uhhh, you're not listening here.

Both Jim and Hendrik have told you that JRemote2 is for Android only and that it's an Android only app. There isn't going to be a JRemote2 for iOS. The original JRemote is what's available for iOS devices. JRemote2 is for Android only.

Repeat: THERE IS NO JREMOTE2 FOR IOS AND THERE'S ISN'T GOING TO BE.

Hopefully you understand now.

Ok then apply my question to the JRemote.  It is obvious I misspoke.  Relax.

Hallo,

why is the JRemote2 not available for Android TV (Sony Sony XR-48A90K). Only the old JRiver is shown and it crashes when it must list a long list of play items or playlists.

Greetings

Any answers from JRiver people. Also the old JRiver can not passthrough the sound on modern Google TV. So my question again, when can we expect a JRemote 2 on Google TV

It's because JRemote2 doesn't have support for the Android/Google TV interface with navigation via remote control/mouse, which as far as I know requires a dedicated GUI for TV interfaces. As far as I know it's targeted towards touch navigation only (so phones and tablets) and not touch navigation + remote control/mouse navigation.

JRiver for Android might work as an alternative since it does have interface support for Android TV last I checked, and so can Panel potentially via a web browser. You might want to at least give Panel a go and see what happens. The other alternative is MO 4Media which does have Android TV navigation support.

Great job with JRemote2! I have been using JRiver and Gizmo for years. I am glad I spent the money and upgraded to JRemote2. It's beautiful, fast, and responsive. I am using it on my 8 year old Sony Xperia tablet running an ancient version of Android (v.5) and it still works great.

I do have a couple of requests.

1. Under "Audio", there are 7 subfolders: Artist, Album, Recent, Genre, Composer, Podcast, and Highly Rated. Not all of these are relevant to me. I would like to be able to re-arrange them, assign custom icons, and hide the ones I do not need.

2. The "Search" function always returns zero results, even though I know the tracks exist. To be clear, I am using JRemote2 on Android, with the PC playing music. The files are stored on a HDD on the PC. Am I using it wrongly?

3. The "Streaming" option does not exist. I know that JRiver will not support streaming from Tidal, Spotify, etc - so a workaround for the desktop is to use JRiver's built-in browser to open the Streaming website and play music from there. It works for the desktop. Would it be possible to cast the entire webpage from the desktop to the remote app, so that the streaming service can be controlled by remote?

1. You do this from the Media Center running as your server. MC's Options > Media Network > Advanced dropdown > Customize Views for JRemote, Gizmo & Panel... though you can't assign custom icons.

2. Search isn't implemented yet in JRemote2, if memory serves.

3. Not possible unfortunately. It doesn't support the WDM driver playback through DLNA or Media Network. I believe people workaround it (in a way) by using other apps like BubbleUPnP for things like Tidal. Streaming in remotes like JRemote is for Cloudplay mostly.

Would it be possible to display track rating stars below the track names in the tracklist (instead of having to enter Playing Now at the track-level)?

https://repos.bryanroessler.com/files/sp4Vxg7aY4Fd6Vmbj8xJ2271Yg9wxdk2HaGQ1s8kJyE7uiN39Qu05Vj53lVSs2Bj/Screenshot_2023-04-06-09-46-34-93_e4785b4ca06e05e1105644bbe44cc5dd.jpg

Another suggestion: a currently playing track indicator/highlight in the tracklist?

I prefer using the tracklist as the main playing window as opposed to Playing Now, for the same reasons I prefer using Standard View on the PC--better visual progress "through" an album (sometimes I get lost in Playing Now) and it's easier to remember track names when seeing them all at once instead of one at a time. The playback controls in the bottom bar are usually enough to get by, but sometimes I would like more interactivity from the tracklist like progress bars, playback controls, ratings, track indicators, etc.

Edit: Ahh, I see now that if I switch the tracklist to "list mode" (is this redundant?) using the upper right button, I can see the ratings in the tracklist. Works for me!

thats nice! but will be more usefull and looking better if we have the options to customize ui for example i dont use the stars and etc, i prefere a cleaner look. so my suggestion is the option triger the settings on or off!

Is it planned to include a system-wide search with jremote?
Gizmo had one, but jremote can only search within the current view. So I also have to switch to the web interface to search a specific song. I know that I could use the web interface in general, but jremote is more responsive with loading large views and showing covers..overall better user experience since it is a real app.
So please add the search function we had in Gizmo. I would be willing to pay for that e.g. in jremote 3. I even bought jriver for Android but that seems rather slow on my phone...
Kind regards,

Great product. IOS (JRemote) or Droid

I am using JRemote2 - version 2.3.2-api21.
Device is Samsung galaxy S 23 ultra.

I have noticed I have no access to artist information (only meta) whereas it available on the IOS version? (last.fm, earlier versions?)

I have also noticed when navigating away from "playing now" and then returning, the display does not always re-center on the current track as in available IOS version?
(Restarts display at track 1- long "Playing Now" list = frustration)

Will there be an update in the near future?

All the best

New user here - starting to learn the MC ropes.
Getting to appreciate MC - great solution for my needs. Running on a small W10 Pro PC.
My music is local on the W10 PC, and I also stream from Tidal.
I am now looking for a remote control option, like JRemote2.
What's nor clear to me yet:
Can I use JRemote2 (on my Android tablet) to control MC running on the W10 PC?
Does that require some additional app on the PC as an intermediary between the Android app and MC?
Can the app interact with MC over BlueTooth?

Apologies as these seem beginners questions (they are!); the threads here assume a minimal experience with it which I don't have yet.
Is there a beginners' guide to JRemote2?
Appreciate any pointers.

Yes, you can use JRemote2 to control playback on a PC.  Take a look at the wiki topics on Access Key and Remotes.

Just post here if you get stuck.

No. It works via internet connection, e.g. Wi-Fi.

In process of discovering JRiver many great features, and just installe JRemote2.
I read a lot of info here on all options and features of JRemote2 but not how to get going ...
This is how far I got: JRiver is installed on a laptop.
I installed JRemote2 on the Android tablet, got the 5-character connection code and entered it in JRemote2 sucessfully.
But how to I control the JRiver player on the laptop from JRemote2?
If I open the 'cast to' dialog, I see my TV decoder and my Wiim Pro player, but nothing else.
Under 'My servers' I see the laptop, I can connect to it, then at the bottom it says: [comp name]: this device (and it's the right name).
I can select music on the remote, but when I press the play traingle, nothing happens.
What am i missing??

The code is called an Access Key.  The wiki has a topic.

In JRemote, you can set where you want the playback to be.  Player is what you probably want.

But that's the problem "In JRemote you can set where you want the playback ...."
How do I do that?
I see at the top right the small square with the transmitter symbol, when I open that it says 'Cast to' and I get some options, none of them the machine where the player is hosted.
So please, instead of what's possible, please tell me how I do it?

Edit: under My servers|Edit server I see an option AUTHENTICATION which is blank.
Do I have to enter something there (it's greyed-out).

Edit2: I got it to play locally on the tablet from it's on-board music folder.

Yes, I just found it, thanks. There was a text saying 'this device'.
I didn't realise that it could be activated to select the replay device, it didn't look like a button or anything.
Must be my age .... All well now.

While I'm here: yesterday I was looking for a way to correct volume differences for individual channels (7.1).
I came to a window where there were the 8 channels across the top like blue squares you could select and then you could set individual levels.
For the life of me I can't find that back (should have written down how I got there).
Anybody knows what I mean and how I get there?

thanks for all your help guys;
I'm used to be in a forum where people come to me for help;
it's sobering to be on the other side for a change.

Good day,

I have already asked before, and I want to ask again, my request is as follows:

I don't have the ability to play Hi-Res music from PC on Android.

Last time you answered that I can play *.flac but my music *.wav.

Can I count on adding this feature in the future or not?

Thanks.

I am still desperately looking for an easy way to find certain songs in my music library when using Jremote2.
Is there any chance to have a system-wide search as we have it in Panel and in Gizmo?
When JRemote is loading the entire library at the beginning, it should be easy to search that entire library within Jremote2?
Currently, I can only search within the current view, or am I missing something here?
Besides that, a big fan of MC for over 10 years, just bought the most recent version 31 and will continue to support MC, thanks for the excellent program!
Kind regards,

I use both iOS and Android versions of JRemote(2)...many years.

Although desirable as a feature, currently, no way to search for individual tracks (to my knowledge).
I must first search for Artist. then drill into listed albums to find the desired track.

Yeah, I believe it's still on the to-do list. Hopefully someday in the future it's added.

Now, I just got a new phone (Motorola Edge+ 2023) that runs Android 13 and I've noticed something interesting... With the new music notification panel in Android 13, JRemote2 does display controls (along with song info) correctly and all of it seems to work. The problem is the album art background of the notification panel is of very low pixelated quality even though the embedded album art is high. I checked YouTube Music, and it displays high quality album art in the music notification panel. Is it possible this could be fixed/improved in the future? I'm wondering if it's just an API level thing that needs updating?

P.S. Scrolling in JRemote2 with the 165hz screen is as smooth as butter, and a sight to behold. :P

Ruediger:

Check out MO 4Media - as a potential remote? On both iOS and Android. Search functionality appears to be viable.
I have not yet "paid-up", but I have downloaded, installed and accessed server.
Platform appears competitive feature-wise - and closely aligned with jRMC (and forum)

So, I've been using OS automatic dark theme at sunset lately on my devices and loving it, but I've noticed that even though JRemote2 has a dark theme option, there's no option to automatically follow the system theme like lots of other apps do.

Would it be possible at some point to add a third theme option, "Follow System", so it automatically switches to the dark theme at night then back to the light theme during the day when the OS switches? Thanks!
