Typo in Access Key?

Nope def. not,i checked checked and checked again and again

Check the access control settings in Media Center in Options -> Media Network, maybe username/password got turned on for Read-only access even.

Cheers mate that one had me chuffed, but alas i am set for everyone. Jremote2 works on my smaller screen cell phone as does gizmo w/out authentication. Gizmo also works on this tablet w/out authentication. But not Jremote2.  It asks for authentication whether i have it set on or off and it still fails a connection.

i even tried to connect with IP address, Same fail

The tablet in question is Samsung Galaxy Tab 4-SM-T23ONU

Are there known issues with this tablet? My S 20 ultra works fine with Jremote2,but the screen is way too small for my poor eyesight

Cheers for your fine assistance

There you had another brilliant idea mate.i may have not uninstalled an older version before installing this one.i forgot JRiver allows more than 1 version on one HDD

in fact a message popped up today on my pc,not tablet, that said i was connected to another version

How do i suss this out to correct it?

BUT why would my Samsung cell with gizmo and JRemote 2,and on my samsung tablet with Gizmo, they all connect correctly

i look forward to more mate

i checked add/remove progs in win 10.Only the 1 version shows there tho.UGH

Is there a way to force JRemote 2 to find a server? i just noticed it has add server, but no servers named or to search for.It justs asked for access key and user name and password.Gizmo names the servers available

JRemote 2 asks to choose a server and even allows me to edit it or add another server

No such option on my tablet with Jremote2

We may have sussed what the problem is,but no way to fix it UGH

Yes, these forums are read by JRiver's CEO (Jim) and JRiver's developers.

This is the topic to report bugs/issues with JRemote2. Do keep in mind there's a known list of known issues/missing features that can be found here that should be referred to first before posting: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,123223.0.html

Hi All,

I've been using JRemote (original version 1) for years, and I just noticed there is Jremote2 which I believe improved.

I couldn't see the JRemote (original version 1) in Play Store, but there is another 'JRiver for Android'. Is it the new name for JRemote (original version 1)?

I guess this needs to be another purchase in Play Store even if I have purchased JRemote (original version 1)? Can I have both remote installed? Is Jremote2 applicable for multiple devices?

Thx

It's a separate purchase.  JRiver for Android is different.  Please read the descriptions on the Play Store.

Thx guys, I assume JRemote2 is JRemote replacement in Play Store.

If I download JRemote2, can I still keep JRemote to use?

Yes you can (as long as you previously purchased JRemote, as it's no longer for sale), JRemote and JRemote2 are separate apps.

Folder view/Disk location
« Reply #164 on: January 16, 2021, 01:12:56 am »

Good eve

My wish list for a while has been to browse by folder view/Disk location in either Jremote2 or Gizmo. These 2 progs are neck and neck IMHO

In both jremote2 and gizmo that seems possible only with video and images. Why is that?

i was excited to read this quoted article from 2017 from the 1st JRemote. And then you could do exactly that.Is there still a way to browse this way in either Jremote2 or Gizmo?

Tonight after a few years i finally sussed how to browse this way in MC lol

Here is the quote.i tried to reply there, but was advised as the article is so old i should start a new thread

Thanks Ken, It works. How to do it on JRemote - or is this a question for JRemote forum?
For JRemote views, you go Tools > Options > Media Network > Advanced > Customize views for JRemote, Gizmo & WebGizmo. You can add the view you created in Standard View by clicking Add > Library Item From Standard View."

Is there any chance we'll get an option to not convert lossy files when Use native audio format is turned off?

Also, would it be possible for JR2 to respect track links? I notice that it doesn't when shuffling.

Also also, would it be possible to implement a "System default" option under Theme?

Any thoughts?

Jremote2 won't load my Smartlists that have a lot of tracks. The list I am trying to load has 5700 tracks. I have gotten around this by making a Smartlist with the same rules limited to 100 tracks. Is this normal?

If a playlist is way too long, it'll run into trouble. There are ways around such problem, for example if you want it for playing tracks randomly, would recommend making MC produce a list thats a limited random selection out of that set.
We have already improved the length of playlists it can reliable open if you use it with MC27 (its evne more limited with older MC versions).

JRemote 2 Function: "Artist Bio" is not implemented
« on: May 03, 2020, 11:05:22 am »
Hello
Why is the "Artist Bio" function in JRemote2 version 2.0.9 not implemented ?
It works excellent in the old JRemote version 21.0.2 and its helpful additional and excellent information of the Artist.
Thanks

A new update for JRemote2 is on its way. It was released on the Play Store minutes ago, and should make its way to everyone's devices soon. To the Open Beta first, and the release channel a bit later.

As announced end of last year, this update adds the ability to select the audio and subtitle language when streaming video to your phone!
This feature requires Media Center 27.0.61 and HLS Video Streaming to be used - which is now the default for video, since its proven to be quite reliable and fast.

We're also introducing a new MCWS Video Streaming API in Media Center 27 to more easily offer better streaming features, and as a first step this now makes JRemote2 stream video in "AutoFPS" mode, and no longer converts all video to 30 fps, for a higher quality viewing experience!

Further updates to JRemote2 will be coming shortly adding support for bookmarks and more, stay tuned!

JRemote 2.3.0 (02/04/2021)

1. NEW: Selecting the audio/subtitle language during video playback on JRemote2 (requires Media Center 27.0.61 or newer)
2. Changed: HLS Video Streaming is enabled by default.

You can setup views to represent your file layout by using the "Location" grouping type, which makes it rather similar to exploring by disk. Although it'll currently skip folders with only one entry in them, which is not perfect for folder-based navigation, but it should still work mostly fine as you get the meaningful choices anyway.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this.

I am on the latest Beta version that was pushed this morning 2/5/21 2.3.0 and landscape view no longer works. When I play a song in portrait mode and then turn to landscape mode, it doesn't show the correct song and all the controls no longer work. Once I switch back to portrait, everything is working again.

I run jremote2 from a tablet which is always in landscape mode.

Is there another Beta to download that fixes this? What should I do?

Thanks Hendrik, this is great! Any chance same feature could be taken into use for MC client also when watching re-encoded streams? I mean selecting subtitles/audio.

Nice update.  The Video Quality is very usable now even on a big screen.  Did some testing and the on the fly conversion and streaming works well for me to both on an Andriod Phone and to a larger TV using a Google TV Dongle.

A couple of things:
- Sent some crash reports when "casting" to a Google TV.  JRemote would hand off the stream, but would then crash as soon as that stream would start playing on the TV.  It would also crash again if you tried to restart JRemote when the TV was still playing the stream.  You have to stop the TV playing the stream then JRemote could start
- The ability to pick Streams is great, and even better it is picking the "good" sub stream automatically
- Is it possible to pick a Multi Channel Audio encoding for Video (I think I'm getting 2.0 on everything)?
- Is it possible to run JRemote 2 as a Google TV App?

Thanks

This update is so good, it is getting to the point where I could swap my lowly Intel NUC's for devices like an NVidia Shield, Chromecast with Google TV, (or even TV's with built in Android App support) for those TV's where you just need a "good enough" vs "best possible" quality.

It appears DISK is precluded from any such options in those MC settings under audio.i can set it to browse DISK for video/images etc

Very frustrating. Can  someone  explain why that it is not a possible option for some technical limitation to browse AUDIO by DISK like we can video and images?

This would put Jremote2 OTT if they could do that

Will you/they add that option if enough folks want it?

I find JRemote to be a great addition to MC, but have a request:

1- a Desktop Widget for my Android device desktop
2- a 'kill switch' to shut down my PC when the Sleep Timer runs out.

I do not know what it would take to make that happen, but if it is not much trouble I for one would appreciate it.

Google allows you to use an app for an hour or so, then uninstall it to get a refund.  Try searching on their site for the specifics.

I think it's still two hours currently. So if you're going to trial it that way make sure you immediately start using JRemote2 otherwise after two hours a refund won't be possible anymore.

I don't see in the Play Store any update beyond Version 2.2.0 which I installed on 8 Sept 2020. It says I'm up to date. I'm in Australia.

Add (15 March 2021): Thanks for fixing that. Latest version just appeared.

When using the remote2 app is it possible to have controls on the device lock screen?
Pause, play, stop, next track, last track

Would save unlocking the device to skip an audio track.

I use JRemote2 (Android) all the time.  I play, mostly classical, music off my HTPC to my main listening area.  JRemote2 lets me select albums, tracks, etc from my phone.  While listening to music, I often want to check the track's tags.  When I select (i) to bring up metadata I get a lot of useless fields (for instance several Date fields).  There are several important tags (some of them I created) that I would like to look at but they are not there.  I cannot find a way of selecting which tags I want displayed in JRemote2.

Any way to do this?

Thanks...Marcus

I've only just discovered Theatre View and the Remote feature for it on the app and it's awesome. The more I look into the features of MC the more wonders I find. So easy to use - just swipe up/down/left/right long hold etc. and the TV shows what music is playing on the hi-fi and I don't have to keep reaching for reading glasses to see the phone! :)

I'd like to know how I can stop the little feedback vibration from the phone when swiping though. I can't seem to find a way of turning that off in the settings anywhere.

This is a nice app and continues to improve - thanks for the work on this.
One thing that I've noticed is that I cannot close the app and clear it from the notification bar unless I clear the playlist. Even using the android recent apps button and swiping up on the JRemote does not close it.
Unless I clear the playlist, I have to resort to going into the app info and choosing "Force Stop".

Perhaps could you consider an app close function, give it a button on the menu in the UI, and also make a swipe-left on the notification bar close it?

Thanks again for the ongoing work developing such a nice app for JRiver.

JRemote2 is one of the best phone apps I've ever run.  6 stars out of 5!

I've searched this thread for 'chapters', apologies if it's already been asked.

Is it, or would it be, possible for JRemote2 to support jumping to chapters in an MKV?  My concert videos all have chapter names spelled out for each song, it would be awesome to go directly to them!

Thanks in advance

Hi. How do I move JRemote2 to my new Android phone from the old one it is installed on? I go to Google.Play, it shows I have it installed (and congratulates me on being a beta tester), it says the app is compatible with the new phone, but when I try to install it it says "no eligible devices for app install". Can you help?

Are you trying from a computer or the new device?
