I already have and use MC28. For some unknown reason when I play one file it plays on MC27.  This is not my preference but I don't mind either.  If this is a problem, let me know and advise me what to do about it and I will. Thanks.

File associations.  Check your settings in MC's options for File Types.  Disable all for MC27.

Hello. Trying to upgrade from MC22 to 28 via the upgrade pricing. When I click the link from the email and enter my registration from MC22, I go to a page which says that product is no longer available. Therefore, I am not able to purchase using the upgrade price or the special upgrade price. Any suggestions?

This is the same issue I am having as mentioned above but I am just trying to upgrades from MC22 to MC28 for Windows. Would I just download from the download page and install as well? How do I confirm, I am able to get the 'special' upgrade pricing?

Please try again.  Yes, you can download and install.  Use MC28.0.103 or higher.

Download and install the latest build of MC28 from the Download Page.  It will work with an MC29 license.

I'm traveling and trying to do the upgrade from mobile device and don't get any screen to enter the 28 registration code.   I've clicked a hundred times on different upgrade links and cannot purchase.   Driving me crazy!

Not working for my android 9.   This is what I see.   Is it possible to purchase an upgrade with my mobile phone?   Or, must the upgrade be.done from the computer where it is installed?

Question:

1.  Will v28 still offer 32 bit builds?
2.  Will v28 still offer Internet Explorer as the "Web Browser"?

I am stuck on the  32 bit builds due to my use of the "PlayingNow" plugin which is critical as it notifies my HomeAutomation system of track changes.

I cannot use the other browser options... as anything other than Internet Explorer causes MediaCenter to blank my screen periodically for unknown reasons.

I just successfully converted my Windows install from MBR to GPT (to enable UEFI, secure boot, nvidia REBAR and all that). There was one error message that a lot of people get when doing that but I don't think it matters for JRiver MC : "failed to update reagent.xml" (fixed it afterwards by disable/enabling Windows recovery feature)

But there was one interesting and unintended consequence: it broke my JRiver license 🙂

So, I first tried to restore the license I already had, and it kept saying successful but without doing anything. Still in trial mode.

So, since I was on a very old version (MC25) and there are some cool new features that I want in JRiver MC28/29 - I upgraded my licence and downloaded the latest JRiver MC28 installer.

Installed in normal mode (not portable) and tried the new licence I got: it says successful everytime and yet... remains in trial mode. Tried rebooting Windows and all but makes no difference.

Tried both the .mjr file and the "online way" through the JRiver application, same result.

Any ideas?

It's probably security related.  Something is preventing MC from finishing the license installation or from checking.

Possibly Windows Defender.  There is a thread on it here.

But it's also possible that MC25 and not MC28 is installing the license.  Uninstall MC25 or rename the folder it's in.

I may move this to a new thread.

Ok I have resolved the issue and got MC28 to work.

I am using the "Defer feature updates" in Windows since I usually like to wait a little while before receiving major and potentially buggy updates (this machine is not very exposed so security isn't a huge deal). I forced the latest Windows feature update (21H2), rebooted and reinstalled MC25 and applied the license, this "worked" but every time I closed the application it would "lose" the license and ask for it again. Weird.

Ok whatever - I figured I would try MC28. And... it works totally fine! So I simply imported my MC25 library into MC28 and all is well now.

(I don't know why my MC25 is broken, I have tried to fully uninstall and reset the license (before messing around with MC28 I mean) but well I don't care since I have MC28 up and running I have no need for it anymore)
