Hi I have been reinstalling so much for numerous reasons, like clean installation of Windows. I only have one restore left.

I read that one can get it reset, if one ask for it in such cases. I read this from here. (If you use all your restores, please post on the forum. We can reset the count, but this is only done if you have run out.)

Do I have to come with further information on that I have paid for it?

I've reset your Media Center 29 Windows license.  Thanks.

Hi there I purchase MC29 upgrade back on March 20th. I have not got around to installing it as I had an unstable machine and I have now refreshed it.

I tried loading the license mjr file and it says it has expired. Then I tried the link to restore the license and the system emailed me the link with the registration key. When I loaded that it appears to be for MC28 or something because it comes back with "this is not a MC license. Do you wish to purchase an upgrade" or similar.

I have the Paypal receipt for the purchase but I can't find any other mail sent back in March.

How do I fix this ?

Thanks,

I've just re-sent your licenses, including MC29.

Please read the link about how licensing works.

Hello,

Appreciate any and all help: upgraded from MC28 to MC29 because, well, JRiver is great and CloudPlay is awesome.  In fact, listening to CloudPlay Jazz while writing this but... still on MC28.

Followed (I think) all the instructions about upgrading.  I have only used Windows 64-bit, so no Linux or Mac here.  Installing appeared to go well.  Started MediaCenter, restored my license, and entered MC with fingers crossed that settings and library would migrate over seamlessly.  Instead, got a pop-up error:  Window Title: "We couldn't create the data directory.  Contents: "Microsoft Edge can't read and write to its data directory:  C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 29\Web\EdgeUserDat\EBWeb\View."  It only offered an "Okay" button.  Hit 'Okay'.  Got into MC29 interface... but it didn't import, update, or otherwise migrate my MC28 library or settings.

I don't use Edge, want nothing to do with it, and am not sure why this is related to JRiver.  However, I also know that Microsoft shoves Edge down everyone's throat.  (How often do we need to reset PDF files to NOT use Edge?  Like once a month.)   So I would not be surprised if this is a Microsoft thing, not a JRiver thing.

I quit JRiver and did the next most logical thing: I restarted my computer.  After a restart, and a fresh glass of a great wine, I started MC29 again and received no pop-up Edge errors.  However, nothing was migrated over, so I feel like a manual transition is necessary.   That's cool, I can do that, I was just hoping to avoid it.  (I then started MC28 to listen to music while appealing for help - still working well.)  But for my general knowledge, *is* there a way to easily migrate my library and/or settings over to MC29 from MC28?  Was the Edge error related? Other posts here in the Interact Forum give the impression that MC29 will find and move over libraries and settings.  Did I do something wrong?  Did Edge interfere in some way, because, well, Microsoft?

For the record, hats off to the JRiver team for MC28 and Cloudplay.  Discovered it recently and plan to use it (and contribute) much more in the future.  Frankly, it's awesome.

Thanks for any ideas.

Edge is just the browser engine.  It's not the full browser.  We use it in some cases because it has permission to read "protected" files.

Nothing to do with the failure to migrate data.

Install MC29 again.

Backup in MC28 and restore that backup in MC29.

If you still have trouble, try changing the browser engine under Tools > Options > View.

What antivirus are you using?  We recommend only using Windows Defender.   There is a thread here that describes configuration.

Thanks Jim, and thank you for your quick response and apologies for my slow response.

I followed your instructions this evening.  Before reinstalling, I also uninstalled McAfee Antivirus Pro, which I was meaning to do for some time.  (McAfee = king of pop-ups and unwanted solicitations straight to your OS and eyeballs.  Don't recommend.)

Upon reinstalling MC29, no Edge errors of any sort, and restored my backup (to include Settings) and it seems to have worked well.

Thank you!

Media Center uses WebView2, which is a framework to use embedded browsers in apps like Media Center on Windows, which itself is based on the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge. By default Media Center uses Microsoft Edge (via WebView2) as the web browser which is required and used for Cloudplay, Netflix, etc. plus for things that use DRM (e.g. Netflix) WebView2/Edge is the only embedded browser engine that supports it. Media Center also have an option to switch to Chromium (via CEF) but Microsoft Edge via WebView2 would be the recommended option as it's always kept up-to-date automatically by Windows Update (that, and DRM content won't work with Chromium as far as I know). Do note that Media Center won't use any other browsers installed on the system, just those embedded browsers.

If there's issues getting Media Center to download and install WebView2 you can manually do it from the link above and it'll work fine after that.

I have been upgrading since V 22.  I cannot get MC29 to work.

It keeps telling me Trial Period has ended after I open the mjr file s that are sent to me on after using Restore License function. All of these are MediaCentre28 restore files by the look not MC29 which I have paid for and cannot use. I have read the licensing link many times. What is going on - can you please resend me the MC29 code so I can type it in. I can't find a email from March with the alpha code that I can type in.?

Thanks

Re-read carefully the link called Restoring a License.  Install MC29 first, then restore your MC29 license.  I just re-sent your licenses, including MC29.

I am trying to purchase an MC29 master license but I keep getting sent to a page that says this product is no longer for sale.  I have a 27 master license and a windows 29 license purchased in May (don't ask me why I didn't purchase a 29 master instead of the windows version).

I use MC on all three operating systems - windows, Mac, and linux.

Thanks

Hello,
First time posting in any forum for any reason, so please be patient with me!
I have been using a trial version of MC 23 for the past 30 days.  I installed it on an old Windows laptop running Vista and I guess I installed MC23 because it was the version that would install.
Yesterday I purchased a license for Windows using a different laptop, assuming that I could use the resulting code on my MC23 version.  Now I see that I cannot.  Is there a way for me to change my purchase to this older version?  I see there are options for upgrading to a new version, but what I want to do is downgrade.  MC23 is working great and I don't want to lose it!  I even tried to buy a license for MC23, but it's no longer available.  Help please!

Hello.

I have a trouble about registration of my master license.

I have purchased a master license from windows license of MC 29 recently, but I can't restore my license with MC 29 Linux version.
The install key didn't work and error message was shown. And I tried to enter the registration code, but error message said version of MC didn't match. I'm sure I installed the most recent version of MC 29 for Linux. After this, I received an e-mail from buy-button that said I spent my 1 restore time in spite of unsuccessful registration.

please help me.

Thank you.

Now, I want to upgrade to 29 master license to using with my mac, but after I select "upgrade to master license" in help menu from MC25 in my windows it always open a browser with  "this product is no longer for sell" message. I tried so many possible solutions in this forum but result is the same, please help.

In simple terms, the new licenses being sold right now require a version of MC 29.0.81 and higher to work correctly. The problem is the current MC29 for Mac build is older than that and the person who develops the Mac version is on vacation right now until the end of the month.

If you're on Windows, use the current version posted in that forum section. If you're on Linux, there's a build that hasn't been pushed via the repository that's available but has to be manually installed currently.

We have a build on the beta board now, thanks to Bob and Hendrik.  It should be on the Mac board later today or tomorrow.  It's 29.0.86.

The Install key functioned correctly on the most recent Linux version as 29.0.86 downloaded from the Linux forum directly.

I just checked the MC could work on my system.

Thank you for the information!

I'm getting a "This product is no longer for sale" message when I try to upgrade my MC 27 master to the 29 master. I tried the non-master for windows and it correctly took me to the form (and said MC 30 atop the page?), so my key is seemingly right.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

You may need to download and install the latest build from our download page.

The MC30 license will work with it.  When MC30 is available later this year, your license will work with it.

My name's been legally changed and so the registered name I'd like updated. Would the new name show up on the registered name if I use said new name through the PayPal transaciton when doing a license upgrade?
