Some installation problems are caused by antivirus software, but it's also possible you need the 32 bit version. It's on the Download Page.

I've been using the 64-bit version for years. I tried to install a 32-bit version, but the behavior is the same, the initial installation percentage bar goes to the end (100%), closes as if it were to start the installation, but nothing else happens. Does not create any installation folder. As a security, I use the Microsoft Windows Defender, the protection app that is already included in Windows 10.
I uninstalled the MC27 that was working on my computer until today (I did the "MC Library Backup" before, it is attached, but can't even install the MC30 (or MC27, again).
Also allowed exceptions in Windows Defendender for JRiver Folder and files.

In an attempt to make the MC30 work, I uninstalled MC27 and now I can't reinstall MC27 again.

No folder (path) for Media Center 30.

MC27 was working before I upgraded to MC30. I disabled Windows Defender and gave an exception/permission to the installation file and it didn't work. Now, no JRiver (MC30 or MC27) can be installed. Could you please help me?

The first progress bar you see, is it titled "Extracting"? And then nothing else? Or do you get the "Install Wizard" dialog where you have to accept the User Agreement?

If you don't get past the Extracting part, it's possible that your TEMP folder is not pointing to a valid location. Press WIN+R (Run) and type "%TEMP%" without quotes. Does it open a folder? Which folder path?

You can also open the Windows Event Viewer right after trying to install MC and check the Application and System logs to see if there are any errors logged.

Finally you can try to extract the install package manually and install from there:
- install 7-Zip (https://www.7-zip.org/)
- right-click on the installer file (MediaCenter300060-x64.exe), Select "7-Zip -> Extract to "MediaCenter300060-x64\"
- run the InstallLauncher.exe or Install.exe located in that folder

This may also fail, but should provide more information.

Look for a dialog window hidden under other window(s). I have on more than one application run afoul of hidden permission windows.

Turn your second monitor on?

Is your user an Administrator of your machine? It needs to be.
You can check if the installer is still running after the Extraction progress bar finishes - either in Task Manager, or by looking for an icon in the Windows taskbar.

@Devs: is it possible that the installer starts at off-screen saved coordinates?

Zybex, you saved my day. I was already considering a lost cause.
Only by extracting with the 7-zip, I was able to install the MC30, perfectly, on my computer.
I would also like to thank everyone else (JimH, Pepar...) for their help too. I love this app, which for many years is part of my life.

You're welcome.
Though, you still have some problem in your machine. MC auto-upgrades will likely also fail, and other random issues may show up until you find the actual root cause. Maybe you should consider a fresh Windows reinstall.

I have MC 29 and, I believe I have an MC30 license as well. I upgraded from MC25 (and earlier issues) sometime ago and I was quite happy with the earlier versions. I currently have MC29 "running" but I have a peculiar problem. My music library is and has been for years, in round numbers, 8000 files. For some reason MC29 "sees" about 40000 files. For example, in Theater View (or any other view) I have 5 copies of each selection. I am wondering if the "extras" are from other backups. Can I delete all this and start over?

Under the File menu, you can clear your library, but before you import, set auto import settings correctly.

If you have an old backup, MC can restore it. Read on the wiki.

Check your auto import settings.

Make sure the drive is available.

If you updated from a previous version, try restoring a backup. MC makes them automatically and saves them as zip files.

why is the latest version not installed automatically?. I have updates set to stable builds. Are the latest ones not considered stable, thus no updates to version 095?

Sometimes we publish a build publicly but we wait a little to see how it does before we promote it.

We've had a lot of new builds lately and we need to be careful not to push too much too fast.

Ok,Thank You Jim. So I should stay on stable builds on MC 30. I Am very pleased with it. So I recon after a while it or even a another build will be let through as stable eventually. I just thought at this late stage...it would be stable. Now I know You are being very careful as You have always been. Thanks.
