Crashing
« on: September 01, 2023, 04:51:19 pm »

Hi,

Just updated to 31.04.43 (64bit) running on Windows 11 PRO.  Its randomly crashing after a few minutes of just playing music.  Doesn't appear to be cause by any particular track.  I've attached the log file.  Appreciate any help!

Thanks,
Mike

\\FREENAS\Server2\HiRes_Music\Red Hot Chili Peppers - Mother's Milk [192-24]\08-Stone Cold Bush.flac is the last file MC was trying to analyze according to the log, might try moving that file away and see if it stops crashing. You can try to figure out if you have bad files crashing it by recreating a crash with logging enabled, then look in Previous Log.txt at the bottom to see what the last file it was trying to import/analyze is.

Also might want to update to 31.0.50 from here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,136889.0.html

Many thanks.  Removing that file fixed the problem.  Interesting it wasn't an issue with version 19.

There is a long standing rare crash that occurs when audio analysis is started. It's hard to reproduce but I sent a crash log a while ago.

comox,
Are you running build 50?  I saw your post in the 31.0.50 thread but it wasn't clear you were using 50.

...

Three things there:
The square brackets
The back slash \ in the name of the file
and
The NAS itself

I'm always suspicious of NAS drives since they have their own bugs.

And a back slash on Linux is a special character.

Please try build 52:

If it still crashes, share a crash dump.  Thanks.

I was running 50 for a few days and did not see the audio analysis initiation crash. It's quite infrequent and sometimes takes a week or more of heavy use to occur.

I'm now running 25 to avoid the jpg crash.

Build 52 fixes that crash.
