Hi I have now formatted(with killdisk) the system disk a second time and installed win 11 pro again, but to no avail. I still get framedrops on any nvidia driver I have tried and my setup is very simple. windows update and asrock inf, me, lan driver installed, installed latest mc 32 (version 55) and done the defender taming and recommended nvidia setting vsync, power and and disable variable freshrate.

I have a rtx 3050 8gb msi and in jrvr i always load the quality settings and leave it at that and I prievously never had any problems with that and use sdr 8 bit and does not turn on hdr in jrvr setting as this gives far less artifacts and unwanted rendering. I have also tried to load lower quality settings but to no avail.

I dont expect somebody to fix this for me as I have had this for some time now. But Am I the only one with this problem? I had it perfect some time back using nvidia driver 531.79 but that also dont work now. So I tend to think that it is windows update, but then again this would certainly be a topic here on jriver.

Is this common problem or is it most likely problem to my system.

Do you use framerate matching ?

I set up by custom and not auto regarding frameratematching. 23.976fps to 23 hz and 24 fps to 24 hz and so forth. I set up the other ones too, but I almost only render movies 23.976/24 fps..

is auto better?

Thank You, Jim! for the link. So it could be hdmi or gpu that is not good enough anymore from what I understand.

Thanks for the link, Jim!

Ok as I understand it, the gpu could be the culprit, so something has changed so it perfoms bad, so the rtx4000 series will solve the problem for those that dont settle with just a few drops during a movie. This is also the case for not only sdr, but hdr passthroug and hdr rendering. And the correct driver mentioned in the thread off course is also needed.

I tried out Madvr on jriver. Its late over here..but I played the same movie(planets of the ape 2014 remux) and used some good scaling options and did the all the other stuff to get good rendering..1 frame in advance and nvidia settings the same off course. I think this was a success, but I have to play couple of movies tomorrow, but I got 47 minute and 0 repeated frames or drops and no glitching. I Am pretty sure this is worked. Sad bc I prefer jrvr though, but at least I can watch movies again, not that I watch that much anymore bc of movie industry is going fast down the drain...King example..latest aliens...looks like netflix movies with a couple of children playing the caracter..just watched the short trailer on YT..what a farse!!!

but there was a missmatch on fps and hz...23.976 fps and 23.977 hz...but I could not see any problems but have to watch a movie to be sure this aint a problem bc it should not be this missmatch and this could be the root of the problem as I also see this on jrvr rendering too...

Read the first post in that thread.  He updated it.  It wasn't the video card that solved it.  The driver was a factor.  So was the OS setting for HDR.

I believe jmone found a few months ago that he could just leave the OS in HDR mode.

Thanks again, Jim! I will read me up on his post. I tried just to activate hdr in os and there was less artifacts, but they where there( Jason bourne 2002 remux 4k). Like artifacts around the heads of people mostly(bc it is often the persons that are doing the motion, so that is ruining the movies). With sdr it is much much less. So Lg has a job to do. I doubt that the newer ones is free from this. Next tv will be Sony for sure.

Manni writes at the end of the post..that all problems above is solved with rtx 4000 series gpu and latest driver.

He also say using madvr solve the framedrop issue with the the right driver

recommended driver and using madvr and some decent settings. Here one has to tick on videoclock and hardware accelarated...I played jason bourne 2002 once...no drops or anything else. Also display hz and compostion hz deviated with 00.002, which is very low and does not seem to matter. But this has earlier been rock steady too like both 23.976 and not 23.978.

Thanks Jim, I found a solution that worked at least. I think this jrvr will get fixed sometime I hope.

with JRVR I get drops and repeated frames, 1 or 3 of both during a movie. also with hardware accelerated and or videoclock on. Looks like a new gpu is needed at the moment to fix this according to manni.

Using Madvr. Under devices in advanced settings, I constantly get new identifications, everytime I start JRiver. I am now at identification 43 and continuing. I have tried to search this on google, but there is very little to be found other than it is a bug, but there seams to be no solution. I dont loose settings but is there nothing to be done to stop it?

I got it solved, but hdr passthrough on madvr does not work. No hassle as I dont use hdr. But those multiple indentifications numbers got stopped by deleting all of them(meaning all of them!). The last one is active and does not allow to be deleted. so close adv. settings and open again. there are then 3 or 5 identifcations made. Then delete number 1 that was the last one not able to delete bc it was active(bc it was the last one after deleting 2 and 3 ...) Then it will stop. it said in the link that it also resolved hdr passthrough, but I tried it and colors was bleech and the identification thing started again. so I had to do the procedure once again.

Delete the non-active ones, then restart, put it on one of the before deleted ones and delete the last one.
If that makes sense

This is explained in the 4 or 5 first post in the link.

I've been working on a new presentation mode that might offer better stability with timing on some systems, although it won't fix any issues caused by mis-aligned audio clocks or anything like that, in which case frame drops or repeats are inevitable to keep audio sync.
Let us know how that goes once it arrives, but that might still be a bit.

In general, a single drop in a two hour movie sounds pretty good timing wise. It only takes a miniscule timing derivation to accumulate over that time to cause one drop. But then, can you really notice a single drop over 2 hours? :)

Great! Something to look forward to Hendrik! I will! Yes 2 repeated frames and 1 drop in 2 hours is not bad. activating hardware accelerating...and videoclock helped a bit I think. I think without it I got 3 drops in 2 hours with them ticked off.

As You said bad timings can not be fixed by JRiver. Quite som time back I got lots of drops only by moving the cursor on to top of the screen and the panel appeared on the screen and when it faded away and triggered a very large stutter and many drops. I also had to use both features on to avoid drops too....I found a program(killdisk) to wipe the system disk. I think I wiped it 3 or 4 times and fresh installed windows 4 times, then it stopped and it was rock solid, I did not need to use hardware acc..or videoclock...the timing must have been perfect and so that the cpu managed without help, until these bad drivers started. So nvidia messed that up!
So I did two wipes now. I think I am going to wait to things get better and then wipe one more time and fresh install win11.

Nvidia did mess up right before or after they did some major work/changes in their drivers. That is why this large jump skipping many versions in one leap. ( I think something happened right before this or bc of these major changes).

Keep up the good work, much appreciated!
