Media Center 11.1.188
« on: June 19, 2006, 12:49:56 pm »

This is the latest version of MC 11.1.  Your MC11.0 license will work with it.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.  MC11.1 is a free upgrade from MC11.0.

If you're new to MC11, please use the build from our download page here:
http://www.jrmediacenter.com/download.html

This latest build (usually safe) of MC11.1 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter111188.exe

11.1.188 (6/19/2006)

1. Fixed: Running the launcher (MC11.exe) when a different version of Media Center was already running on the system could cause a crash.
2. Changed: Increased the minimum size of the OSD.
3. Fixed: Made date parsing in Podcast feeds more forgiving. ( fixes http://www.bigpoker.ca/Rounders_rssfeed.xml )

11.1.187 (6/16/2006)

1. Fixed: MC would occasionally crash when playing certain .MOV files.
2. Fixed: Closing MC while some modeless dialogs were open (like Plugin Manager) could cause a crash.
3. Fixed: Added support for bmp, gif, jpe, jpeg, png, tif & tiff file types for iPods supporting photos.

11.1.186 (6/7/2006)

1. Changed: Pressing "Play" to play visible files when the tree was focused wouldn't honor a user search.
2. Fixed: iPod Nano model # MA353LL/A was not properly detected.
3. Changed: Library views of "Albums" no longer group all albums with the same name together.
4. NEW: Updated the Spanish translation. (thanks Alfredo!)
5. NEW: Updated the German translation. (thanks bytestar!)
6. Changed: "Album Thumbnails" are sorted internally by track number instead of the same sorting as the current view.
7. Fixed: Switching to a non-playing zone while certain visualizations were showing could cause a crash.
8. NEW: Czech language translation added. (thanks Johnny B!)

11.1.185 (5/24/2006)

1. Changed: Updated the German translation. (thanks Nick Schlüter!)
2. Fixed: aac/m4a tags that were written to the end of media files could not be read.
3. Fixed: Audible files transferring to MTP devices failing. Required WMP hotfix added to install.
4. Fixed: Streaming m4a and ra/ram/rm audio tracks from Library Server could not be played.
5. Fixed: When not playing mp4 type in DirectShow, MC could not correctly categorize mp4 as video or audio (and classified all mp4s as video).
6. Fixed: MP3 files with slightly corrupted frame data could cause an MC crash.
7. NEW: Added an Italian translation. (thanks to Marco!)

11.1.184 (5/15/2006)

1. Changed: Proprietary MusicMatch field handling could cause MC-specific fields to fail to load with some tag configurations.
2. Fixed: When simultaneous rip/encode option was disabled, the last track ripped from a CD did not get cover art associated with it.
3. Fixed: Burning transcoded CD's (mp3 or wma) was not converting to the correct format in certain cases.
4. Fixed: If mp3 encoder failed to download, transcoded CD burn could be continued anyway and result in a coaster.
5. Changed: Theater View could be slower than expected on some systems due to font auto-sizing.
6. Changed: Track Info (and other visualizations) detect meta-data changes as track changes in http:// streams.
7. Changed: Slightly increased the minimum size of the on-screen display.
8. Fixed: Files not transferring to some Windows Mobile devices successfully (WMDM Bug: MSDN article #893027).

11.1.183 (5/5/2006)

1. Fixed: With certain font anti-aliasing schemes enabled, font auto-sizing would not work as expected.

11.1.182 (5/5/2006)

1. Changed: Updated the French translation. (thanks Jean-Marc)
2. Changed: Revised the shrink mode used by the panes during auto-sizing when there isn't enough space.
3. Changed: While in windowed mode, the close and restore buttons aren't shown on the top bar. (since the window itself has them)
4. Changed: Disc numbers of 0 and 1 don't sort as equals in the panes. (but they still do in lists)
5. Fixed: The right-most column wouldn't update the horizontal scrollbar after a resize in a file list.
6. Changed: More tuning to automatic font size selection system.
7. Changed: Updated Portuguese translation. (thanks ChicoSelfs)
8. Changed: Updated all translation files to contain latest source code phrases. (now at version 2.3)
9. Changed: Added "Conductor" as a default library field. (Media Center has always saved / loaded this from MP3 tags once created, but now it'll be automatically created)
10. NEW: After manually creating the fields "Instruments", "Featured Performers", "Classical Genre", "Track Artist", doing an "Update Library (from tags)" will load proprietary MusicMatch data for these fields. (read and write support)

11.1.181 (5/3/2006)

1. Changed: Creation of start menu shortcuts would not work as expected during a non-express upgrade install.
2. Fixed: The jaggy 16x16 Media Center icon could still show in some places.

A old Bug is still exist Daniel 2k posted it again and again.

Hi!

A problem occurs when I seek very fast through the tracks with the hotkeys Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right.
When the position marker reached the end of the track MC doesn't go to the next track.

See below:

2. Changed: Increased the minimum size of the OSD.

Thanks heaps for this but I've just tried it and it looks exactly the same as the last build. I've tried different PC's different skins (back to Aruba now) - I just don't get it. I'm not using any special Windows font re-sizing options or anything like that.

The installer is crashing, I am trying to install the MC 11.1.188 but the installer stalls at the "preparing to install window" just after the Selection Type window.

JimH , Matt (Matt Is On My Other List)

Could You Please Change The Way Media Center Saves The Duration When Used In A File Name?

For Duration: 9:25

MC Currently Saves 9_25

If You Could Just Have It Save 9m25s (and this is a file name standard for duration)

Thanks, Mark

I'm on 186 but I'm guessing this hasn't been fixed.
I'm recording DIVX files on to DVD+RW discs which are 4.7GB in capacity.
I'm only putting around 3GB on to them and MC tells me I'm overfilling the disc.

I then burn the disc and it works fine.

Could you add to the contextual menu of each playlist the link (~ an option) "Edit this Playlist"? PLEASE
That will increase much the software ergonomics.   ;)

1. No playback: Audio view scheme has Genre>Artist>Album>Name and bi-directional filtering enabled or disabled.

If you use panes mode in Audio and try to play a file from the bottom list pane of all files, playback ensues, with no audio. Same files play okay through name pane. *EDIT - this is happening in all panes; playback but no sound when playing from bottom file pane. When EDIT2- (ALL) is selected (like after a F3 quick search); this appears to be the problem; if you select a genre or artist, you get audio. I fyou try to double click a file below (All) your files or results of quick search, playback starts w/o sound.

2. Custom filed made as "Album Artist (custom)" reads Album Artist (customs) when displayed atop Tile & Pane views that are being currently viewed.

I have Media Center 11.1.183.  I've been hitting "Check for Updates" on the Help menu for some time and it informs me that no updates are available.  Finally, I decided to come to the web site to check what the current version was.  Clearly there are several.  Should this menu item work?

We don't always change the public build or provide links to the latest when you do check for updates.  Some changes are minor.

I'd say that the above change alone warrants jriver singing from the rooftops about the new build.

If a view scheme is renamed or edited the thumbnail spacing, sorting, and thumb text are all reset.

The "Music Quiz" no longer works on the 3rd gen iPod -- it says "no songs found."

This is a "game" where the iPod randomly plays songs that you're supposed to guess.  I don't know when this stopped working, but I know that it used to work with MC syncs.  I'm unclear if it was just version 10 of MC that worked, or if early versions of 11 worked as well (I haven't tried it in a while) but now it just says "no songs found" when I play the game.  I tried doing a full restore, re-initialize, and new full sync, but I get the same behavior.

Re-Tag files, MC writes to tags.

Get FFDshow related MC crash.

Re-open MC and tag changes lost EXCEPT very last tag changes are saved.

I changed the artist field then renamed files from properties. then tried to submit to YADB. The artist field tags now read the old data yet the last changes made to genre stuck.

If you are on All Music and search fro an album, the next time you choose Artist Info  within MC your search of Artist is applied to Album search resulting in an incorrect result. Could probably be fixed with a clear of cookies, but an MC fix would be better (and an Album Info button!!yes!).

EDIT - removed my AllMusic cookie with no luck : (

My bad y'all I fixed this by clicking the Artist header link on the all music  page but I guess new users could get frustrated; also I can now click on any artist tile that is NOT playing and look them up on All Music. Is this a recent change?  - I love it.

Seeing this pretty consistently for a week:

Too much coffee + using back & forward buttons + crash of MC.

Hit back then forward (I'm using mouse hotkeys) and back; I go back but want to go forward and before I know I have hit the mouse button three or four times thinking MC has applied the view state, which it hasn't yet, and MC overloads and crashes.

I can't pin down anything as the cause, I'm not tagging or may have finished editing some tags, and MC just seems to get confused by this rapid forward>back>forward view state action.

Album stats incorrect?:

Album name is In The Dark. One track is mistakenly named In the Dark. MC shows one tile, as I would hope, ignoring the lower case "t". In stats, however, MC shows it as two, albums, one with 11 files and the other with 12. When I change them to the same title the stats are fixed. Shouldn't MC ignore case sensitive characters especially when all the Artist Album (auto) and Artist fields are the same? MC needs to rectify this with Artists as well; MC shold not just ignore articles for sorting but should be able to rectify an extra space or lower case "t" when building the library's artists.

Artist Album stats aren't displaying properly when selecting one album: they don't show at all. Stats show for every other single tile selected. Closing & reopening stats displays that tile but then it flashes away. No problem displaying multiple stats for more than one album.

Theater View Bug

Navigate to an empty view (such as an empty playlist/smartlist). Only button shown is "Back" since view is empty. When you click on this, the Play/Add/Cancel context menu is shown instead of taking you back to the previous menu.

Thanks.

There seem to be several focus problems with the recent betas when MC is launched via NetRemote MediaBridge. Not sure if this needs to be addressed by JRiver or Promixis, so I have posted in both forums. Details are in this thread: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=34704.0

I found a bug with synching a 5G iPod.

My 5G iPod was fully synced.  In MC, I added album art to 3 songs ("inside file"), and changed the year on these songs.  I then went to do another sync, and MC still considered the iPod fully synched.  I had to manually delete the songs off the iPod and THEN do another sync before MC would recognize these song as needing to be synched.

In other words, even though ablum art was added to the file and the date tag was changed (meaning that the file date and size were changed) MC still considered these songs to match the ones already on the iPod.

This didn't use to be a problem (at least not with my 4G iPod.)  Any change to a song's tags would make MC delete the "old" version and sync the "new" version when running the next sync.  I don't know if this problem just showed up with the 5G iPod, or if it's been happening for a while without me noticing it, but I do know that this has not always been a problem with MC and 4G iPods.

Thanks,

Larry

In regard to focus problems:

Once MC is "selected" you can mouseover Firefox or MC and scroll, prior to this though, MC doesn't respond if you've be using a browser, etc.

Similarly, it would be nice if the tag field would stay "open" for edting when switching to another app for cutting and pasting purposes. Currently MC closes the field for editing.

There is a little tweak in Tweak UI that allows some kind of auto detect mouseover focus to be activated. I used it for a bit but encountered some problems I can't now recall.
