MC 12 got crashed [solved by changing a device option]
« on: March 15, 2007, 09:17:26 am »

Hi I love MC's speed very much compared to Itune and WMP11.
However when I plugged my Ipod into my laptop, MC suddenly got crashed and required closing.  :(

Following is the error description:

AppName: media center 12.exe    AppVer: 12.0.185.0    ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180    Offset: 000111de

Does anyone experienced this problem, pls help!

Thanks...

Another "me too" i'm afraid:

AppName: media center 12.exe    AppVer: 12.0.233.0    ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180    Offset: 00031c6b

...except this time when I plug in an iriver H10 20Gb

I'm running XP MCE SP2 Build 2600...

AppVer: 12.0.185.0

This may not help, but you have a rather old build of MC12. Please download and install the latest build from the first thread in this forum (currently 12.0.233).

Does it crash every time you connect the iPod or only occasionally?
Also, could you post your complete system info from MC's Help menu (Help > System Info...) ?

mckeithyb,

the same questions (except iPod -> iRiver) ...

tisungho,
Make sure you have the latest firmware installed on your iPod.

Others,
Please turn logging on (in the Help menu) reproduce the crash, go back into the logging dialog and email the logs to rick @ jriver dot com.

Thanks,
Rick

I just changed the "USB to PC" setting on my mobile phone to "Enable advanced network functionality" and now this seems to work and the device shows up as "Generic RNDIS" (and the phone's storage card shows up as "Generic RNDIS[1]"). Apparently that setting in Windows Mobile 5 switches between using RNDIS and PPP, and the PPP setting was causing the error for me.

No, it crashes every time I insert the iRiver. It seems to detected the device, then crashes shortly afterwards.

MC 12 Crashing with iRivier H10

I've now upgraded to 12.0.240. Interestingly, I seemed to get further the very first time I connected the iRiver after upgrading. On trying to sync the device though, it displayed 'Error' for each track MC tried to transfer.

Next time I connected the device, I got the same error as before.... after a few seconds.
