It appears that the bug that happened when switching TV channels with the Ctrl |PLS| channel number after using the keypad above the channel list has been fixed. Thanks for taking care of that!!

Do it for Win 98. Please.

And what's the difference between Win XP and XP?

I think I've missed something. What is "MJAutomation"?
Not in "Help". Can't find it in toobar or pulldowns. Plug-in? I'll go look.

I looked. No dice. I found four instances (besides this one) in "Search" but I'm still not enlightened.

Give me the street version of the explanation, please.

We can't. Win 98 comes with ASPI layer installed.

<< 6. NEW: Added option to turn off auto-playback feature. >>

I found the option on under "Settings/Options/General" and unchecked it.  Seems to work fine for most adds to Playing Now except when using "Send to/Playing Now - Add (as next to play)", then the playback still starts up by itself.

Then am I to assume that when I stick a cd in the drive and it says I have no ASPI layer installed that it will still work? It has popped this message up but I didn't try to burn yet.

Heres a strange bug that is still occuring in my system. I didnt post it for the past 5 builds or so because i didnt think it was a problem and it still isnt a problem, just annoying now. Whenever I install MJ8 over the old build, the new MJ will load up the first time ON TOP of all other windows. Cant get to anything without closing every app and reloading them. and then it will do it sporadically from time to time. Here are my specs:

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.343
Install Path: C:\Program Files\MediaJukebox\

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 1693 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 785 MB, Free - 565 MB
OS: Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1  (Build 2600)

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2600.0000
ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2600.0000
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2600.0000

Nevermind. Went thru options and found I needed to re-start for changes. System Info says using internal ASPI, guessing this is right for the new layer.

Love the changes.  Here's what I've seen from the little bit of testing I've done (I should be in bed-thanks a lot!):

>3. NEW: Added new parameters to MJ command line interface.

From http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/DevZone/CommandLine.html :

mjextman.exe /Command VolumeSet [Value] sets main volume.  If value is not specified 50% is used.

VolumeSet works beautifully.  Thanks!

mjextman.exe /Command VolumeUp  [Value] increases sound by Value. Default is 5%
mjextman.exe /Command VolumeDown  [Value] decreases sound by Value. Default by 5%

VolumeUp and VolumeDown work as I prefer, but I think the description page needs to be clarified.  If a [Value] is specified, it is absolute; that is, if volume starts at 20%, then VolumeUp 5 adds 5 and results in 25%.  If a [Value] is not specified, then a default of a relative 5% is used; that is, if volume starts at 20%, then VolumeUp adds 5% of 20 and results in 21%.

Again, I like this implementation.  There is no doubt (to me) that an explicit [Value] should be an absolute add or subtract.  But it's nice to have a relative default, so that you can make "small" changes.

But, if for some reason you should decide that you need to standardize, then please go with absolute only (but I prefer it the way it is now).

>6. NEW: Added option to turn off auto-playback feature.

This isn't working for me.  I unchecked the option, but it still starts playing for most Add to PN and Send to PN... options.  I restarted MJ and even rebooted.

Hmm, I found a bug.
If your running a webserver on port 80 (apache in my case) and you try to start MJ with the web plugin installed then it wont start because the web plugin is trying to bind to the port and it's already in use.

It's stopping MJ starting up. Luckily I worked out what it was and so could stop my web server, open MJ, uninstall the web plugin and then start up my server again.

A bit annoying. And the web plugin should have an option to start automatically or not, not just always start.

Nila,

It's a bug in the Web Remote plug-in.  If it fails it never comes back from Create function.  I'll talk to zigguratt about that.

I think he means the following. And even if he didn't, I do ;-)

If you delete all files from one directory, MJ should automatically delete the directory itself also.
E.g. I use to rename all my files using genre and artist. And if I decide, that some songs shouldn't be pop but rock I do a "rename"-batch using MJ. And MJ left _many_ empty directories this way.
(my naming scheme includes genre\artist\album\files for directory so this happens).

Okay. There is a work-around: Rename to another location and delete the original one. Then do the same: Rename to the original directoryname. But this is only a solution, if one organizes this way (I organize every media file in g:\Medienarchiv).

Mirko and ChickoSelf,

Empty directories will be removed if you rename file in next build of Media Jukebox.

For example:
Original path: H:\temp mp3\1\2\3\Alternative\song.mp3
Renamed to: H:\temp NEW mp3\1\2\3\Alternative\song.mp3
As a result H:\temp mp3\1\2\3\Alternative\ will be deleted

So...without an option, this new feature to 'delete empty directories' can only be disabled by sticking a dummy file or directory in the original directory to prevent a directory deletion?

I ripped to one common directory and then use Move/Copy to move the ripped files to my preferred destination drive and directory location.

Or, is this new feature only applicable to File Prop's Renames and not Move/Copy functions?  If applicable to Move/Copy functions as well...you see my prob?  [My "New Rips" directory will be deleted everytime I do a Move...argh!]

Thanks...

As "Z" said it would be nice if it was optional, but if not i would like to see it in both move©opy if no files were in folder, and no folders\files were under that folder.

In the update directory window an option to remove directory entries in the directory structure specified if the directories are empty.

What do you think?

For an Option on removing empty directories, I'm fine with just one option to cover all instances (not 1 for File Prop Renames and another Move/Copy).  You see, I don't want MJ to remove empty directories (I'm in the minority, I know...but, that's how I feel).

Options are bad and we don't have any space to include this option.  Real Estate in MJ's Options window is becoming more and more expensive.

How about that, if you hold Shift the directories will not be removed.

You think, that new users may have difficulties seeing through the jungle of options? Well. That _could_ happen. I see your point.
I personally like options very much, no, even more :-)

But a "shift"-combo? I don't know. The one suggested above does sound right ("put a checkbox in the dialog").

HTH.

Hi

Can I just get clarification on this issue? It is only EMPTY directories that are deleted?

I have album art and notes and lots of stuff in my album directories, that I would not want to lose by mistake!

I can see the posts now...
"MJ auto-deleted my C: drive!!!"

>>Can You Give A Reason Why Someone Would Not Want To Remove Deleted Dirs, I Can't Think Of Any.

If I rip to c:\temp\music\artist\album them move to my real library and nothing else is in c:\temp it will be deleted at the completion of the move?   Not good if c:\temp is my official TEMP folder.  Of course the odds of it being empty are almost non-existent!

Another reason...Testing an alpha or beta V9 with this option would be scary.

Funny, I was in favor of this option yesterday but the more I think about it the less inclined I'd be to use it.

MJ only erase The directory where you put the files like
1
C:\temp\artist\album\file
2
C:\temp

the artist directory are the only thing deleted! daaaa

"MJ auto-deleted my C: drive!!!"

I think that is a little bit impossible to happen

>>>MJ only erase The directory where you put the files like

Yeah, but how did MJ know when to stop deleting empty directories?  Say I create a directory c:\usr\ImportedMusic then manually copy an artist\album tree into it.  So I have...

c:\usr\ImportedMusic\ArtistA\Album1\...
c:\usr\ImportedMusic\ArtistA\Album2\...
c:\usr\ImportedMusic\ArtistB\Album1\...

Then I import c:\usr\ImportedMusic.

Now I go to RecentlyImported, fix all the stupid naming mistakes from CDDB, then do a Rename From Properties to get the file into my c:\usr\music main directory.  What logic would MJ use to prevent deleting c:\usr\ImportedMusic?  How did MJ know that I used the Artist\Album naming scheme in ImportedMusic?  That's not recorded in any option anywhere.

Here is the solution:

1. In File Properties: Confirm Moving window will have option to delete empty folders.

2. In Move/Copy: After moving finished window will come up and as if you want to delete empty folders.

Here is a good one:
While testing the feature MJ deleted its own source code.
