What version of Windows?  Also, is it only when you view a certain folder, or when you first expand 'My Computer'?

Thanks.

I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate.  The crash happens after it expands the folder I selected.  I can navigate through 'My Computer just fine it's right after it finishes populating say Y:\vinyl\, MC crashes.  This happens no matter if the folder size is 5gb or 500gb.  I've tried using 'my computer' without music playing and all other applications shut down yet it still crashes.  Yesterday I did a complete uninstall of MC, but no luck.

I'm not seeing this on Windows 7 x64, so it must be sporadic or computer specific.

Could you provide a crash log, as detailed here:

Thanks!

I saw and reported this a while ago in build 123.
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=50857.0

I am able to reproduce it again in 151.

It seems to occur only with folders that have many sub folders & files (4000 folders, 67,000 files in my case).

Works ok for all other smaller folders.

Crash recovery issue I discussed in same report still needs to be addressed. I am hooped again after reproducing this bug.

From the wiki linked above:

9. Enable logging in MC and send us a log (to logs at jriver) with a link to your thread. Logging is under MC's Help menu, and there you can also e-mail the logs. There is more information about logging in the 'Logging' section below.

I don't think that the size matters because it worked before with the same files and folders...

I do not understand your comment. I was trying to say that MC crashed on the large folder in build 123 and I am seeing the same problem in 151. My many other smaller folders work ok in both 123 and 151.

Thanks for the log.

It doesn't show anything obvious, and I haven't been able to reproduce this.

Darn it.  Any other tips or ideas?

Thank you for trying.

My guess is that it is a timing issue. Something may not like waiting the long time it takes to populate the tree with the 4000 folders.

I will do some more experiments to see if I can provide some more clues but it may be a day or so before I get back to you because I have some other commitments.

I think we found it.  There's a GDI leak with some file types.

Look for a fix soon.
