just got CPU back from TEC after debugging &and reinstall

so at this point I don't know if anything has been fixed

there is a chance I will figure this out the instant I hit the post button

clicking media server in windows start :nothing ,nada,zip

clicking anything else works fine

gonna see if laptop does same

hey thanks jim were almost there now in the menu you sent me to I don't see the assignment for the green or what ever color it was I don't see an asigment for color buttons

If you have Media Center Remote of any kind, it has a Green Button. Do you have one?

I got my remote today and can't get it to do anything. Initially struggled to get the driver for XP but I believe that is all installed now. The light on the it receiver is flashing when I press buttons but still no control. Icve gone into the setup options and made sure that the proper selections are made there and nothing. Do I have to have Microsoft media center installed for the remote to work? Any other thoughts about what I might be doing wrong or further troubleshooting please? Thanks!

In my very limited experience, two possibilities:
(1) That the driver is not the right one, or not fully installed (check Device Manager and see what is listed)
(2) That you do not have Media Server running - go to Tools->Options->Startup->Windows Startup and select Run on Windows startup: Media Server (or both Media Center and Media Server).

Thanks for the response Ken. I have checked those things. Here's where I am currently. I could not get the new remote and tranceiver to work after fooling with drivers and seeing everything in the control panel I was supposed to see. So I have resorted back to a generic usb/ir sensor and universal remote. With that setup I can work up down left right and enter in theater view and do similar in standard view. When I try and learn commands I can learn up down left right and enter (notvthat I need to learn them again, just experimenting) and as soon as I get to play stop etc. It stops learning and advancing. I can learn up down etc. as play stop etc. if you follow what I'm saying. I've tried different code sets and I'm confident the ir sensor is being sent ir when I press play because the ir emitter flashes and I can see the ir with the camera on my phone. I've literally been searching for weeks in my spare time for an answer to this problem. Any suggested solutions from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I would really like to have more extensive control via remote but I'm stumped. Thanks!

Upgraded with no problem, my license transferred, love it BUT... I'm left with 17 and 18 on my computer, okay to just uninstall 17 as if you accidentally start 17 you find yourself juggling licenses... Thanks.

Do you just sell the Receiver and emitters without the remote. I have a decent Windows Media Center type remote from a previous computer that I'd like to use with my new mac mini (running Windows 7). I'd like to buy a receiver and 2 emitters. Also, what are the chances of these devices working in OSX for when Video/Theater View features get ported accross?

I'm looking for an IR remote that will control volume and start/stop, etc.

Hi, will this infra red receiver work with Windows 10? I read somewhere that HP no longer support this unit and the driver might be a bit dated.

I was forced to upgrade from Win8.1 to Win10. Most everything works except this remote. The hardware is fine but it just won't accept commands. Is there an updated driver available somewhere for Win10? It seems a shame to have to ditch this thing for the want of a little bit of software.

Try reinstalling MC. The MC Remote does work with Win10.

Does this remote IR blaster work on the Comcast/Xfinity X1 platform DVR? Cable TV (at least Comcast) is moving completely to this platform. My current MCE remote won't change channels on that DVR -- it appears that IR blaster simply doesn't communicate with the DVR -- and I've read references to the X1 using some different type of IR coding. However, a Harmony remote control has no problem sending programmed IR codes to the X1. I'd be glad to replace my current MCE remote with the one offered by JRiver if its IR blaster does indeed control the Xfinity X1 box.
