Doing my Due Diligence yet again  ::)

I'm deciding between several different hardware/software options: ATV3 & Synology DS212j, JRiver on HTPC (& NAS?), XBMC on HTPC, Boxee Box, Mac Mini & OS x.

Is MC17 able to do double duty without having to change settings between tasks?
3D Blu-Ray Through HDMI & Upsampled Audio (USB DAC, Analog Outputs, or stream)

Stable with High PQ and AQ?

If my storage needs can be met with 2-4 disks, can I keep the sata disks internally running a hardware RAID?
Or do I need to use a NAS (unRAID, Synology, WHS)?
Is there any quality difference between internal RAID vs. NAS?

Can it supply multiple streams if the AVR is capable (Denon 3312ci)?
Movie in HT and Music in another room(s)

Am I able to play 3d Blu-Ray with HD Audio formats if the HTPC hardware is capable?

Cheers,

Van G

You could set up a second zone to use for one of the outputs.

Thanks Jim, pretty cool that you can create zones with their own setup profile and play them concurrently. Also gives me some great options with DNLA/Airplay/Analog outs before I commit to a USB DAC.

Any opinion/info on the rest of my question list?

Internal drives are usually a better solution than a NAS drive, in my opinion.

You could read about Blu-ray on our wiki.  MC doesn't support 3D.

Working my way through Wiki now. Thank you.

With regards to hardware, I've found a suggested build using the following:
AMD A8-3870 4x3.0GHz HD6550D FM1 100W
ASRock A75M FM1 CIR USB3.0 SATAIII UEFI μATX
Kingston Technology HyperX 4 GB Kit (2x2 GB Modules) 4 Dual Channel Kit 1600

I already have:
Antec Overture II-EC w/ 450W PSU
C-300 64GB SSD
2 x WD Green 2 TB Sata
4 x Samsung 7200.9 Drives of various sizes (300 & 500 GB)
Win 7 64 Ultimate
Kaspersky 2012 A/V

I'll be using this with Denon 3312 and Panny 65VT30.

Controlling with either Harmony 900, iPhone, or iPad (in that order of use).

Is this a capable build?

There are some threads on our Hardware board that would be a better place for discussion.  Could you copy your post there?
