Synology duplicating tracks in MC20 ?
« on: January 03, 2015, 05:35:53 pm »

Beginning to finally move cd's to disc, decided on JRiver and NAS. Using Win 7 PC with DS-214p.
But I'm ending up with two copies of each track, in the library.

Ripping FLAC's to NAS works fine at first. Tracks show up in NAS folder as specified, with a Filename in MC of \\DS214P\music\JR FLAC\
Then after random intervals, a duplicate track with a Filename of http://192.168.1.xxx:50002/m/NDLNA/xxxx.flac also show up in MC.

I have the DS-214p's DNLA Media Server turned on.  (I want to feed ID's without having a PC on.)

My theory is that the DS-214p is making a copy of the rip for DNLA purposes, or perhaps a second filename associated with the rip.
And then MC's auto-import sees the second filename and adds it to the library.
Does this sound like what might be happening?

In MC, I excluded \\DS214P\music\JR FLAC\ from auto-import, and the second copy ceases....
But is there an easier way?  Am I missing something simple?

Thanks,  Mark

You should use the Synology as a drive, not as a DLNA Server for this.

Ok, many thanks.
How does the ID connect to the drive without first loading a library from the PC?
Or I guess, can a MC library be on the Synology, to be loaded into an ID?
IOW, how do I use the ID and Synology alone, with no PC involved?
Thx again, Mark

Then .. a duplicate track with a Filename of http://192.168.1.xxx:50002/m/NDLNA/xxxx.flac also show up in MC.

The first entry is coming from the Synology acting as a drive..
The second entry is coming from the Synology acting as a Upnp / Dlna server..

=> Solution is to turn off the Upnp server on the Synology.

Yes, thank you.
I have learned what you say about the first and second entries.

What I haven't learned, is how to use the Id and Synology alone,  without turning on Synology DLNA.

What I haven't learned, is how to use the Id and Synology alone,  without turning on Synology DLNA.

As previously mentioned: your first entry is (already) coming from the "Id and Synology alone" -- so I don't think that there is anything more that you need to learn. Or ??

Thanks for continuing help...and sorry for lack of clarity.

To access the Synology from the ID ala the 'first entry', I have to load my PC's library into the ID....the PC library that put the music on the Synology.

I cannot find a way, at the ID, to load or add the Synology files as a standalone library without turning on DLNA on the Synology.

I have wanted to do this so I could leave my Main Library on my PC, my mp3 library, as one that syncs and auto imports with itunes.
And I have a newly created Flac library with music files on Synology trying to stay apart from anything to do with mp3's/itunes.
I have hoped this Flac library could also feed several Gizmo controlled ID's, (preferably without a host PC involved).

I guess the ultimate goal is to be able to choose either the mp3 library, or the Flac library, from Gizmo at each ID.

Im very new to JR MC, NAS, and ID's all three !
Very Open to easiest way out...thx again

From your own mail, it seems you have already loaded the folder \\DS214P\music\JR FLAC\ into MC. That is a standard network folder and I assume this is the folder on your Synology. Or ??

If you have already loaded that folder into MC then there is nothing else to do. But if you want to double check you have really loaded that folder into MC, select File ¦ Library ¦ Import ¦ command and either run Import single folder, or better Configure Auto Import, on that folder.

Yes, that is the folder on the Synology,  and I can load it on my PC. Then I can load my PC as server into an ID and show same folder playing at ID.

What I cant do is connect to the folder directly from the ID without first loading the PC library into the ID....
Or rather I CAN do that with Synology DLNA turned on, but the I get the whole duplicate track thing in the PC library.........
