say a few hours, I like to use JRemote and was wondering if any side effects from a long pause....thanks

you're talking digital files?

of course not.  it's simply remembering where you left off, there's nothing actually "paused"

i do notice a jump in memory usage in pause - from about 6 to 80 Mb

There could be a potential issue with HDDs/NAS/Storage or 'PCs' entering power save mode during the pause. Odd things may happen on resume.
