Gizmo not finding server
« on: August 26, 2017, 05:24:20 am »

I have just installed MC23 (upgrade) on my music server, and was trying to configure Gizmo (and for that matter JRemote), both of which have worked in the past, but since that time I have changed my modem / router.
The consistent error message is that the IP address of the server (for what it is worth its 192.168.1.208) can not be found.  However if I login to the router via another PC I can see that my server is there with the stated IP address as MC23 has also configured / detected.  Furthermore if I check the IP address of the server on the server it again confirms the same.  And if I ping the IP address from another PC connected to the network there is no response......I am confused any ideas what I can do to connect?  There don't appear to be any options in Gizmo to help either.

Sounds like maybe a firewall is turned on.  Or maybe something wonky with the network.  You might reboot the MC machine after you confirm that the firewall is or is not activated.

That's an "inside" address.  Are you trying to connect from the same LAN?

Firewall is a good guess.

This might help:
