MC 23 - Import Issue
« on: August 28, 2017, 02:45:59 am »

Hello,

I have a issue with import command.

If I use the command from the menu (tools\import\single folder), MC don't import anything, it says only "imported 0 new files".
If I use the command from shell integration, the folder import works fine.

Is it an issue or there is a configuration that I can to use to resolve this problem.

Thanks

Hi,

I imported an export file through the media library instead of Tools from the action bar successfully. Both settings as library entries became imported. Perhaps this is a problem solving bypass.

Kind regards,

Hi,

The import that not works is the import of any type of new audio files (mp3...).

Kind regards,

That's what you would see if the files had already been imported.

Are the files where you think they are?

The files are not yet imported
The files are present into the folder

I attached a small video that explain the issue.

That's definitely odd.  I notice that when you do the import via explorer, the address bar no longer shows E:\users...  Instead it shows "This Computer".  I wonder if that has something to do with this behavior?

You might try telling MC it's ok to import files that were previously deleted and try again:

Tools > Options > Library & Folders > configure auto import > Tasks > ignore files previously deleted > (uncheck)

Or maybe there's something else going on.  Good luck.

I tried what you suggested but the issue remains.

I can try to uninstall/reinstall the program.
I will tell you the result.

I would suggest creating a new test library.  File > Library > Library Manager > add library

Then try importing some of your folders into the fresh library.

Hi,

This is the sequence that I tried
  - new library - NOT WORKS
  - Uninstall/reinstall with new library - OK
  - Import my library - NOT WORKS
  - new library - NOT WORKS

So I think that there is one or more options that didn't permit to import files.

There is a way to reset options to default?

I have created 6 user fields saved into files tag. There is a way to save my fields configuration to import later?

Hi Brian,

Probably my settings was "corrupted".

I uninstalled/reinstalled MC 23
I changed only few parameters
I imported my old library without settings
I tried Import and now works fine

I hope this workaround/solution works for a long time...

Thanks a lot

Best Regard

I am having a similar problem with just one folder/movie.  It is an mp4 file...same as many other I have (movie) and I can right click and open and play with JRiver but it never gets imported to my library.  I try to import manually through tools, import a single file, no luck.  Any ideas??

when you right click and "play", it will appear in the "now playing" window (it has to, or it won't play)

once there, try right clicking the entry and tagging it - it's likely there is a bad tag.  check the media type / media sub-type and stuff like that

also make sure your JR is configured to allow mp4 imports
