Request: When double clicking on a Library in tree view it should load that library.

On my laptop I often move between my local library and my home server. It would make my life easier if simply double click a library loaded it rather than selecting it and clicking the "Load Library" button.

Allow the built-in web browser to be put in full screen, preferably with a hot key. Would be useful for browsing and consuming content on video sites. As it is, there appears to be no way to hide the top of MC for this purpose.

In 'Manage Library Fields', 'User Data', 'Relational' allow more values than 'artist', 'album', 'series'.
More the better!

Really need values of 'Album Artist' or better 'Album Artist (auto)'.

-- Have BOTH Joan Jett AND Joan Jett & The Blackhearts as 'Artists', I use Joan Jett as 'Album Artist'.
If I set a 'Favorite Artist' field as 'Relational' want it to be relational to 'Album Artist'.

'Manage Library Fields', 'User Data', 'Show in Link in Checkbox'.

Would like when I select the 'Link'Button to go "up in the level of search" when searching.
Currently it seems to only return results in current view.

--- I am browsing songs under Led Zeppelin albums, I select the 'Link' Button for my "Associated Artist" field. It will return ZERO results as no results are in the current view.
I would like if selecting the 'Link' Button to "Go Up" and find Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, The Firm, The Honeydrippers, etc. and all others I've linked in the "Associated Artist" field.

I love that I can (should) be able to build an interconnected web of relational files using various metadata, but I haven't found a real use for it.
Maybe I'm missing something.

I'd love the ability to rename multiple files using F6 while connected to a server. I understand that moving and renaming are essentially the same function, and that causes problems when sharing a library. It would be great if renaming of files were still allowed and moving files were ghosted out or something.

This would probably require that MC be re-written so that it references server assets not via whatever indexing method it currently uses, but as files on network shares.

It seems possible in theory, but I doubt it's a one-hour job.

MC remembers your last action and places it as an item at the top of the context menu. This is very useful. Sometimes I flip between tagging and analyzing the audio. It would be fantastic if MC could place the last two or perhaps even three actions at the top of the context menu.

Could Themes have its own settings section created in "Options > File Location"?

I use different background Themes in Theatre View. The Themes which display when MC is idle in Theatre View, and are set under "Options > Theatre View > Appearance > Theme".

I don't like that the Theme files are stored on my boot drive under the "C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 23\Skins\Theater View\Themes" directory, which means I need administrator rights to change or add any files to a Theme. I have used various Themes over time and I want to start building more Themes, or adding to existing ones, without using Administrator rights. I would also like to move the Theme files off my boot drive, so no \Program Files\ or \AppData\Roaming\J River\ (tied to a User) directories.

The settings in "Options > Theatre View > Appearance > Theme" could stay the same as they work well. MC would just need to look in a new location for the files.

This would mean that Themes moved with major upgrades to MC, and they could also be shared between versions. One less thing to take care of during a major upgrade.

Thanks for your consideration.

Extremely Easy! (fingers crossed) ;D

Using Panes is a wonderful way to play our music. Here are two options that I have been wishing for some time now to magically happen (never asked for them though  :) )

1. At the DropDown panes please add the ability to search substrings in the word (i.e. searching Caugh will show McCaughan)

2. Add search field at the Top panes (not only at the DropDown version).

Thank you

Allow the possibility to change the color of the selected HeaderBar text.

I use 'overview' often and i have the need to set a more contrasting color than the 'textcolor' for default headers. Example: white on yellow is hard to read.

Allow the possibility to change the color of the selected HeaderBar text.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only way you could do this is with the skin itself by editing the skin's main.xml file. I'd recommend making a copy of and forking the skin you want to edit, change its name to something else (like add edited on the end) and make your changes. Reason for forking off the skin is to keep your changes persistent after updates, which will override any skin changes you make after every MC update.

I'm sorry i should have stated that my request was regarding skinning. Unless the info is hidden somewhere I didn't find, changing the 'seleted text' isn't available for 'headerbar'.

When I use "Add from File", there are very good chances that the missing cover is a file called front.jpg, or cover.jpg, in a subfolder called art, or cover art...
I'd like JRiver looking for the cover not only for folder.jpg in the album folder, but also for front.jpg, or cover.jpg, and in Subfolders, too.

When connecting to a remote MediaCenter Library, the column lists of a view are always the same, in the sense that they revert  to some sort of default preset.

Please allow a custom preset to be set 'globally' as default for all views. This way, I don't have to manually right click on a column to select my custom preset, and repeat that whenever I change from (let's say) Albums to Artists to Files. I would like all these views to use my custom preset when connected to a remote MediaCenter library.

Alternatively, when connecting to a remote library, please allow the MediaCenter 'client' to mimic the column settings and view layouts of the MediaCenter library 'host'.

Alternatively, have the MediaCenter 'client' to remember the 'host' column view settings.

You can right-click a playing video and pick "Jump To" and it will show a list of chapters.

Yes but I use Theater View on my living room TV, with a remote control, not a mouse/kb, so this is not practical on a regular basis.
I use girder, and I can program the remote to send a right-click to get that popup menu, but I haven't figured out how to navigate that menu to go to the "Jump To" chapters. Arrow keys don't seem to work, they make the menu disappear when I use them.
Are there any other keyboard keys that I could use to navigate the chapter menu?

Two ideas for the macOS version:
1. make the "toolbar" menus on top open up when when the user hovers over them (after one dropdown menu has been opened up). So for example, when I open the dropdown "File" and move the mouse to "Edit", the "Edit" menu should open without the need to click on it. That would be consistent with the behavior of the Windows version.
Furthermore: this behaviour would be consistent with the default behavior of macOS apps.
2. for GUI design consistency reasons, use of the design in the "Media Center 23" dropdown in all other dropdowns in the toolbar (File, Edit ...).

If this is something that is considered benefitial for the UX but not "too easy", please feel free to move this to the macOS forum.

The Room Correction module in DSP Studio says that "move bass to subwoofer" is the recommended option but the dropdown defaults to "remove bass below crossover", I suggest changing the default to the recommended option makes it incrementally easy to do the normal thing.

Subtitles - Defaults
« Reply #225 on: February 26, 2018, 01:02:18 pm »

I would greatly appreciate an additional setting on the options menu for the default position of subtitles under /Tools/Options/Video/General Video Settings/Advanced/Subtitles & Language.  When I use them, I like them to always appear at the bottom of the screen.  Currently, I  have to manually change the setting when the video begins by /Right Click/Subtitles/Shift

It would be very helpful if a default "shift" setting could be included in the Subtitles & Language settings under /Video

Here are two - in case one is impossible (or people like them both)

1)  If you prefer more of a folder view (like a traditional windows file structure) if you go to a folder that has audio tracks on a sub folder (with more tracks - maybe an album's bonus tracks for example) MC puts the tracks in a folder called "This Folder" - it would be great if it didn't do that.  And if it must have the extra folder then it would be nice to be able to rename it on a right click, or something (this currently isn't an option.

2)  In Theater View I would like the option of putting the previous, pause, and next buttons in the second row once "List" has been chosen from the top row.  IE, when you have your track list up there playing, it would be nice to be able to keep the list view up and have the option of skipping ahead a few tracks, or to the next one, if you wish.  Unless I don't know how to use it, to get to another song from list view you have to select it once then within that window you have to hit play (then back a few times to get back to the list) - it's a little cumbersome.

Thanks for asking your customers for input - I'm very new here but already love all the options (even though I have virtually no clue how to use most of them yet!).

Here's another one:
In Theater View when looking at thumbnails of albums it might be nice, for long titles, to be able to hover over the artwork and see the entire title.  For me, I have several versions of Pet Sounds (each folder has a description of what it is - SACD, 16-44, Remaster, etc...)  I see 6 different versions of the album but can't tell which is which because the full folder titles won't show.

Thanks for considering our requests.

this 404s so should be removed (or perhaps the URL should be updated as sky.fm seems to redirect to https://www.radiotunes.com/ )

For consistency reasons please consider moving the "write tool name and version" checkbox from Options->Audio->Advanced to Options->General->Importing & Tagging.

I found also the checkbox "Also store image in the file's tags" under Options->File location->Cover Art, which I'd also move to Options->Audio->Advanced to Options->General->Importing & Tagging

The options in General->Online Metatada can be split up. Some options can be part of Options->General->"Importing & Tagging" and the cover art related options can be moved to Options->File location->Cover Art

Options->General->Video Card "might" be moved to Options->Video (assuming hardware acceleration in MC is used for video only).

Could the MC Package Installers have the version number included in their name please?

Currently, all MC Package Installers just appear as "Package Installer" in the Windows File Association App, which makes it hard to check which version is associated with any file type, and specifically an mjr file. This can mean that when trying to install, for example, an MC24 licence into an MC23.0.102 installation, where an MC22 installation still exists, can result in the licence installation failing with the message "Your license file is for a different product". Because the mjr file association still points back at the MC22 Package Installer.
