Can't connect from the internet [Solved]
« on: October 31, 2017, 11:02:52 am »

For years iv'e been using JRiver, upgrading already 3 or 4 versions. The reason i keep using it, is the fact it gave me access to my music library from my cellphones, using dedicated apps (i have all three of them, free as well as paid).

In the last few months, this access is not working anymore: the port forwarding in the router, remains the same. windows firewall turned off. but still, even JRiver own connection test tell me '..you'll probably need to configure your router's port forwarding...".

I tried everything. today i have already bought a new router (thinking the previous one maybe cant port forward anymore). i redefined the ports, but nothing helps.

Can someone help?

External IP address changed? (although, the JRiver access key method of connection should pick that up automatically)

Recently, a user had a similar problem on iPhone, and found that the individual setting to allow the app on their phone to use cellular data had been turned off. Might be worth checking that too?

Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

Hi Marko, Thanks much for trying. I havnt got to the stage of testing my cellphone at all because even JRiver test itself, can't connect to its server. The external addresses changes once or twice a week for years, as you said, it never bothered JRiver.

Can you connect if you're on the same LAN / network with your phone?

You could test the web address:
http://localhost:52199

Just to be sure that media network is alive and well.

There is a test feature in Media Network.  Click on the Access Key to start.

In Google, type whatsmyip

A firewall may be blocking access.

The port forwarding on your router may not be correct.

You can enter an IP address and port instead of the access key.

Thanks Jim. i did all that: I turned off windows firewall.

JRiver test itself cant connect & say i have to open the port. the thing is that the port is open (i'm using JRiver w/ the same port forwarding, for years): External Port Start: 5200n. External Port End: 5200n. Protocol: TCP. Internal Port Start: 5200n. Internal Port End: 5200n. Server IP Address: 10.0.0.1n. WAN Interface: ppp0.1. (the letter 'n' is 1, 2 or 3 - i have 3 machines running JRiver).

10.0.0.11:52001 shows the control panel. but MyExternalIP:52001 return ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Problem solved - router's port forwarding definitions, won't be respected, if the service provider is using NAT/one address solution. Thank you for trying to help.
