Hi everybody,
A freshman user here, quite pleased so far w/what MC offers, also for a fair price. Two remarks at this point.
One toward the advancement of 'JRiver Inc.' so to speak:
IMO the software could convince many millions of users more by being less tech-savvy oriented and more intuitive in setup. I mean, there's plenty of audiophiles who are apt at the digital way of life, but i guarantee you there's ten times as many audiophiles who would like to use a music server the way we use our car: just turn the key and drive away. No need to know how the engine functions, or the suspension, just where the gas station is and some basic traffic rules...
Some tree-style diagrams in the user interface would already improve the learing curve, and many small details could make building a library less time consuming. Important issues to exactly the kind of public that would appreciate a music server to begin with.
The other is, i feel a bit awkward about seeing an upgrade available i have to pay for, the very first week after i purchased my master license, which a didn't even wait the thirty days for to decide. I just went right ahead and thought to get my license before investing all this time in learning to work it and in setting up and ripping a 10.000 item library (for starters).
I understand upgrades will always cause some kind of divide, but i'm a bit sorry i didn't sit out my thirty days now..
Anyway, nice to be here and see y'all occupying yourselves w/the advancement of great (computer based) audio. Will probably be back before long to stalk you w/my learning curve. Cheers!
