MC25 MC24 MC12 - Ripping Problems
« on: June 15, 2019, 03:29:34 am »

I have always used MC12 on an old XP laptop.  It was slow but reliable.  When  the XP laptop died I put MC12 onto an HP Pavilion laptop.  I was able to RIP one disc.  After that I get a message stating that there are no tracks to RIP despite library information being displayed. I can edit the information and it is recognized when I reinsert the disc.  I then installed MC24 and I had exactly the same problem.  I have since upgraded to MC25 and the same thing happened.  Do you have a magic bullet?  ;)

Try the latest build:

but antivirus software might interfere.

Make sure Windows is up to date.

Try another disc.

Bad drive?

I have the latest version.  I also thought about a bad drive so I got a new one.  Same problem unfortunately.  AV settings would not explain why I could RIP with three different MC versions once.  Had I not been able to rip at all I could accept that it might be AV/Firewall settings.  I can use the drive with other software but MC will not play tracks or RIP after the first RIP either.

Antivirus or firewall could easily block one build of MC, but not another.

Same is true for this.

What is the complete version?  25.0.54 is the latest build.

What OS?

I have removed all MC versions.  Going to reinstall.  I will let you know after the reinstall.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I can't tell you any more than I have above.

You should read the Windows Defender thread here.

I don't think it's an MC problem.

MC 25 is ripping discs as normal. I think that your virus software or firewall settings must be blocking MC25 from accessing the online CD information database causing a failure. (Just one possibility!)
