I Need Some Help With - Love Songs
« on: April 23, 2003, 04:52:33 pm »

1. Go Get Your Wife, Girlfriend or Significant Other (men have no taste so I have been told).   :)

One Of the Four Securities at Work Is Getting Married, And I Would Like to know what everyone thinks would be good music for a wedding and reception.

so what do you think is good music?

mhorton is being bad again.

Love Potion #9 would be kinky.

Moon River would be nice.

I heard "Blue Moon" the other night by the Cowboy Junkies, and I was instantly 13 again, at the outdoor ballroom in Antelope Park.  I think I was really in love with cars then.

Moonlight sonata, Beethoven

Nine Inch Nails (lots o songs)

Without You, Nilsson

That discovery channel song.

Dandy Warhols, Tales from Urban Bohemia, the slower track around #6 with the nice a capella part.

napalm death or back street boys, take your pick (does she have tattoos or not).

Enya: the "happy day" song off her latest?

And finally, if it is really for a wedding, Beethoven has a nice funeral march in his 3rd symphony :)

Hmmmm,

I used to DJ weddings a while back and my two favo(u)rites for the opening dance are:

Shania Twain - From This Moment On

Anne Murray - Could I Have This Dance (the one with the lyrics something like "Can I Dance With You For The Rest Of My Life")

Generally it worked out better if the couple chose these types of songs themselves.....a good way for the DJ to stay out of trouble (bad memories, exes, etc, etc)

I have a couple of friends who's song is "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails.

And they're not even what I would consider all that... freaky or anything. They're so normal.

Pablo Cruise: In My Own Quiet Way
Nylons: The Stars Are Ours Tonight
Billy Joel: You're My Home

"I Turn To You" by Christina Aguilera, from her self-titled album.  It's stellar.

Listening to: 'Someone Like You' from 'One Fine Day' by 'Van Morrison' on Media Jukebox

-----

I've been searching a long time
For someone exactly like you
I've been travelling all around the world
Waiting for you to come through.
Someone like you makes it
All worth while
Someone like you keeps
Me satisfied. Someone exactly
Like you.
I've been travellin' a hard road
Lookin' for someone exactly like you
I've been carryin' my heavy load
Waiting for the light to come
Shining through.
Someone like you makes it
All worth while
Someone like you keeps
Me satisfied. Someone exactly
Like you.

I've been doin' some soul searching
To find out where you're at
I've been up and down the highway
In all kinds of foreign lands
Someone like you... [etc.]

I've been all around the world
Marching to the beat of a different
Drum.
But just lately I have
Realised
The best is yet to come.
Someone like you...

-----

There is also an excellent version of this song from Shawn Colvin.
