Import library into id
« on: November 12, 2020, 03:53:37 pm »

I have been using JRiver 26 to play through my hifi via my laptop and MF Vdac ii with excellent results. I have just bought a raspberry pi fully baked id and have run into an issue that I need help with. I can see and open the id on my laptop and on my tv screen with the keyboard and mouse connected to the pi.
I am unable to import the library that I have been using into the JRiver id. it only shows the 2 samples that came already installed.
Hopefully I'm omitting something simple?
Any help gratefully received.

Please describe how you want to use the Id.  Are you connecting it to a DAC and playing to it as a renderer?  In this case, you don't need to move any files to it.  It works the same way MC works on any computer.

The IdPi doesn't have a lot of storage for files.  If you want to put files on it, look for it in Windows Explorer > Network.

Hi Jim.
My files are all on my NAS drive. I need to import the library into the id version of JRiver so I can select songs/tracks to play. I hope this makes sense and I am trying to set up correctly ?
Cheers

In MC, on the Id, you just need to import the files from the NAS.  More here:

Hi thanks for the help.
I'm doing the following;
Option 20
Option 10
Name of share    //MYCLOUD-0E51H1
Directory name   Z
Windows computer  y
Read only or read write   rw
Guest     y

I constantly get FAIL
Does it look like I'm making an obvious mistake ?
Cheers

Hi, thanks again,
With JRiver media center id open I select;
File
Library
Import
Import single folder
Browse (as you suggested)
All I see in the music folder is ournas which has 2 samples in it (I assume this came with the id software)
Should I see my MYCLOUD nas drive here and select it ?
If so I can't see it, could this be part of my problem ?
Many thanks once again

Thanks once again,
I haven't managed to mount the drive, still keeps showing FAILED.
My MYCLOUD NAS drive shows up on my laptop network with \\ but on jriver support says use//
does this make a difference ?
As I've stated I can see my nas drive on my network on my laptop. Where should I see it on the
jriver id ?
If it isn't showing on the id could this be my problem and what should I do ?
Cheers

You will not be able to import until you get the NAS to mount properly from the Id External media menu option 10.
You need to see "Success" not "Failure" there.

Check your NAS configuration.
You will need to either be using full access using a username and password or a guest account with read-only access.

Usually the guest account with read-only access is easiest to get going.
Check your NAS to see if you have guest access for your share setup.
This is specific to the NAS so there isn't a lot we can tell you about how to do that.

Many thanks for that Bob,
I've input the following to try to mount the nas;

Path - //MYCLOUD-0E51H1/Public
Directory name - Z
On Windows comp - Y
Read or read write - ro
Guest - Y

I've still got fail unfortunately.

If I go back to using MC26 from my laptop into my hifi through a MF dac it works perfectly with the nas showing on the network fine. How can I check that the id can see the nas on the drive other than mounting it?
Thanks again

Hi,
I’m having no luck mounting my nas drive. Tried using directory name ‘Z’ t end of path instead of public. Still getting failure. I’ve attached a couple of images from my tv screen hoping some ody can spot what I’m doing wrong.
Hopefully somebody can help. Think I was expecting pnp out of the box

A couple of things, your NAS isn't on a windows computer is it? So you should say N there.
Also, check your NAS settings to see what version(s) of SMB it has enabled. (there are versions 1-3).

Hi, sorry for the delay. I have tried mounting my nas usin n for the windows question and still get failure. My nas drive smb settings show as 3.1.1 do you think this has anything to do with my problem ?

That may be too new.
The Id supports 3.0 down to 1.0.
Can you try modifying that on the NAS?

Hi, still getting failure when trying to mount nas. A few updates that may help? I’ve rebooted the id and when all the details flash down the screen the 3rd from bottom says failed in red. It all happens too fast to read it. Could this be relevant or should it say this. I’ve attached 3 images to show what I’m seeing. The first shows what I see when turning on the id, does it come with this library preinstalled. The second gives further details of the library and where it’s located and loaded. The 3rd actually shows the library I’m trying to mount, how is this showing when I keep getting failure messages. Hope this might explain what I’m doing wrong. Cheers

Did you try that?

I initially disabled all SMB settings and still got failure notice which prompted my last post. However after reinstalling SMB 1.0 hey presto everything works perfectly. Many thanks JimH and bob, you're stars !!!
