Hi guys,
I found this thread while trawling the forum for answers;
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=118771.0#lastPostThis is virtually identical to my issue so I followed RoderickGI's testing procedure
If you use this link http://jriver.com/webgizmo.html, and enter your Access Key, select "Inside my network", does JRiver Panel open successfully, after asking for authentication credentials?
Answer when executed on server pc is yes.
Answer when executed on phone is "can't reach
http://192.168.1.183:52199 ERROR_ADDRESS_UREACHABLE
If you go to the address: http://webplay.jriver.com/libraryserver/lookup?id=[access code] replacing [access code] with your Access Key, are you shown a page with your Public IP Address, and a list of one or more local IP Addresses, and are they correct?
Answer on server pc yes. "<Response Status="OK">"
Answer on phone yes. "<Response Status="OK">"
Your phone is connected to your home WiFi network when you are trying all this, correct?
Yes
If that doesn't work, or maybe before trying that, just delete the MC Server from Gizmo and then add it back in and test again. In Gizmo, just press and hold on the existing listed server, and then select Delete. Then add the server back in again using your Access Key.
My answer would be the same as GHubbard's
My WI-FI is on and my S9 is connected
The phone App I have installed is called Gizmo supplied by JRiver
When I select/open this App, It displays the following:
A symbol of a home and next to it the word Gizmo and on a second line under it,"Connect to a server".
Under this is a line of text which reads: "Enter a JRiver Library Server access key:"
Under this text are three Boxes: the first box outlined in red has the curser (ready to input the access key). The next box "Go" and the third "Help"
Under this is a picture of two fingers touching, and under this the text "Gizmo" and under this, the text "You're on the bus"
There is nothing else on the screen!
So my only options are to input the access key, which I do and then select Go. Then it try's to connect and after 10 times trying it returns a message "There was a problem connecting to the server"
I have tried pushing and holding on several things and nothing happens! What am I missing?
I then tried RoderickGI's next procedure;
In Andriod settings-Apps-Gizmo I forced a stop then cleared the data and cache then rebooted started Gizmo and entered the server access key and wait for the fanfare, I got the login window. I entered the usrename and password correctly and got the holding window "looking up access key" but much to my disappointment Gizmo went into its ten attempts to connect to the server both internally and externally using the correct addresses.
Could be firewall related. Make sure port 1900 is open for SSDP.
As I have not a scooby what that means I then tried turning off both Windows and Kaspersky firewalls together but still the same 10 attempts to login to the server bur no success.
So I thought I would check out what worked for Ghubbard
A breakthrough, I have made connection to the server! I think it was Firewall related as I did find some related JRiver programs and changed them to "open to all devices".
So in Kaspersky where all JRiver apps were set under Network to "inherit" I went through and changed them all to "allow".
Sadly no joy.
I am at a loss to know what to do next. I have an extensive 2TB collection of FLAC, and now I have worked out how to use a DLNA media server, I would love to access my music through Gizmo on my phone from in the car, on foot, cycling and on holiday. I do not subscribe to streaming services because I have no need, my growing collection does me. I chose my phone because it is one of the best for audio out there, an LG G5SE with the optional 32bit B&O DAC and do not wish to change it.
If I or you cannot get Gizmo to work I may have to opt for the nuclear option, suggested in some of the audiophile groups I follow, and ditch JRiver, which I love and have bought every update since Media Centre 16 back in 2011, for something like Roon which gets recommended in these groups.
Please help, I do not want to abandon my investment in JRiver.
