mp4 audio in MC 9
« on: March 16, 2003, 10:49:31 am »

Anyone know how to get mp4 audio files to play in MC 9?

I tried both versions 9.0124 and 9.0129.  All I get is a warning message, "Please select file(s) to play."  No music.

The mp4 files play fine in Quicktime 6 and Winamp 2.81.  I even tried using the Winamp mp4 plugin in MC 9, but still got the "Please select file(s) to play" message.

Look under 'File Associations' in options. There is an option to select Quicktime. Check it and see if it will play them then. If you'll notice, mp4 seems to be lumped in that group now.

"QT" and quicktime associations were checked in MC file associations.

Still get same error message, "Select file(s)" to play" whenever trying to play an mp4 audio file in MC 9.

The same mp4 audio files still play fine in QuickTime 6 and Winamp 2.81, just won't play in MC 9.

Try clicking on the file from Explorer and see if MC starts and then plays them. Had that problem awhile ago. Maybe it's making a comeback. If it doesn't play, then you should report it in the beta thread as a bug.

I've tried everything from Explorer too.  Play, Open, Open With.  Nothing works, still get same error message.

Same mp4 files play fine in other players, just not Media Center 9.

If this is a bug, it impacted both version I've tried, 9.0124 and 9.0129.
