Download files will be found first on the MC31 boards here. They will soon be available on the Download Page.

You can retrieve your license here: https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi

On Windows, your existing data will be found and used by the new version. On Mac and Linux, you just need to restore a backup: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Library_Backup

Keep your prior version installed until you're happy with the new version. Then uninstall the old one.

After removing MC 30 the folder "C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 30 is not removed. Is that expected behaviour?
Can I manually delete the folder (The Cover Art Folder in the associated MC31 folder has the same size as the above MC 30 folder.)

Try just renaming the folder.

On my systems, I always delete this folder once the uninstall routine has completed. For some reason, it is always left behind. Anyhow, nothing bad ever happened to the new install when the older versions' folders get deleted.

Yes. We moved it to the Download Page a couple of days ago.

Downloaded and Installed MC31. Every time I close it and try to re-open, I get an error message that says Reinstall MC31, Media Center installed for different operating system. I am using 64 bit windows. And it opens and operates fine right after install, but if I close and reopen I get this and it won't open.

I just wanted to let JRiver and other users know that Norton 360 was quarantining the 64-bit download file. I submitted a challenge on last Saturday, they responded that the file was now approved, and it could take up to 48 hours to move its way through their system. I tried again on Tuesday night and the file was still quarantined. I had to go in and manually restore the file on my desktop system. I had to do the same thing on my laptop last night. Hope this helps a few other users.

I downloaded and installed 31. Used express options install (like I have done for past upgrades). It tries to import my music (which I don't want). It does not move over my library from version 30. Why? What should I do?

Just backup the library in v30 and restore in v31. The wiki has more information if you need.

After upgrading to MC 31 from MC22, everything "Looks Good" in terms of my music library files and playlists. However, no music files will play in MC 31. MC 31 shows the track, buffering and length of track but the time remains at 0:00 after hitting the Play button or double clicking a track.
I am running Windows 10 64 Bit

If I open MC 22, everything performs as usual. Any help would be appreciated.

Try the wiki topic on Audio Setup.

Make sure you get sound from Windows Control Panel Sounds.

Thank you, that took me where I needed to go! There were a few playback options and audio settings that needed attention. It became obvious when I compared the same settings on the prior version, and adjured accordingly.

Related to 31 not reading 30's Main Library and having no content ... Where (what path) is 31 looking for 30's Main Library? My 30 Library is at Appdata/Roaming/.... I had recently put my backups into OneDrive. I don't know if that has anything to do with this.

If the backups weren't found in the location specified in your settings, that could be a problem.

Am I to assume that when I install 31, it does not look for 30's Library in .../AppData/Roaming/JRiver to load into 31? Does it look in the backup folder instead?

Hi,

I am trying to install MC (Ver 24, Ver 30 and V31) in my win 11 machine (i5), after the files is extracted, the instalation just vanishes from my Computer.

I use BitDefender antivirus suite.

Uninstall Bitdefender. See the Weird Problems link in my signature and the link from there to antivirus problems.

Use only Windows Defender and configure it.

You'd have to manually reinstall plugins. Those aren't carried over with library backups.

That's what I'm seeing after upgrading from 30 to 31. Several directories still there under 30 including Lav64 and other xxxx64 folders. I don't recall it being normal to have to copy over or reinstall plugins for previous upgrades. Is this new?

No, it's always been like that. In most cases, it's probably not a good idea to copy over plugins like LAV Filters from an older MC to the plugins folder of a newer MC. Best to just have MC redownload those.

When does MC redownload those? The only plugin I saw after upgrade and a night of use was madVR. I did not see it install anything else. What's the process for kicking off any upgrades? I notice quit a few that are in 30 plugin but not 31.
