Please proceed to the MC32 Upgrade thread here:

-------------------------------------

MC31 for Windows and Mac are on the Download Page [edit May 10, 2023]

See below for limited time discounted prices.

You can now use a Registration Code from any previous version of JRiver Media Center, even Media Jukebox 8.0, to upgrade at a discount.  You can retrieve your Registration Code from our server (see below).

INSTRUCTIONS
Are you planning to use more than one OS?
If so, you will need a Master License, which works with Windows, Mac, and Linux.  You can purchase from the Help menu of a current version or you can go here:

Master License Upgrade (direct link)    $37.98.

Or do you only need Windows or only Mac or only Linux?
Then you can get the new license here:

Windows Upgrade (direct link)     $27.98.

Mac Upgrade (direct link)    $27.98.

Linux Upgrade (direct link)    $27.98.

PROBLEMS?
This MC31 license will also work with MC30.0.91 or above.

Is your license not accepted when you upgrade?
Make sure you're on the right upgrade page.
Use copy and paste with the license.  0 (zero) and O (letter) look alike.  So do 1 (number one) and l or I (letters).

Don't have your license?  Visit the Restore Page  and use option #2 to email yourself your license(s).

If you need more help, please read this thread and ask questions there:  https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,133706.0.html

More

I am posting for the first time.
I'm having trouble purchasing a license. Help me.

I tried to purchase an upgrade license, but it was not possible due to PayPal's account lock.
I unlocked my account and tried to purchase again, but I cannot select PayPal as the payment method.

How can I reactivate my PayPal payments?

Thank you

Please try again on Tuesday.  Paypal suddenly put a limit on what we can withdraw.  We're doing so much business right now that they suspected we could be scamming them.  It will probably be reversed in a few days.  I'm sorry for the problem.

Hi Jim,
Not sure if I posted this in the wrong section previously as I have had no response I thought I would post here

I have purchased MC31, no issues and obtained my new license.
I followed the install instructions by downloading the last version of MC30, v30.0.93 (as I am moving from MC 29), installed no problem and my system is working fine.
However, when I copy and paste my new license (which the instructions say will work with the v30.0.93) I keep getting the error,
There was a problem communicating with the license server.
Is this a fault your end or something I am doing?
Cheers

Hi Jim,
I have no idea what occurred? I did the same registry process as I did six times previously; it went through without a hitch, no changes to firewall needed.
Weird!
Thanks for your reply.

I have purchased the MC31 master upgrade license. I have read several places on this forum that to upgrade from an older version of MC, I need to first load MC 30.0.93, "available on the download page." I can only find MC31 on the download page. Where, specifically, can I find MC30.0.93 for download?

I have the following PC's running various versions of MC:

MC27 under Windows 10
MC28 under Windows 10
MC29 under Windows 11

For each of the three versions I am running above, do I need to install MC30 before installing MC31?

Thanks

Just purchased MC31 upgrade. Received a MC31 licensed file but was unable to open and install it. Screen pop up said: Your license file is for a different product. Anyone know how to solve the problem?

Not to sound too much like a luddite but, I purchased a master license for MC31 to upgrade from MC18 and the new program was successfully installed with all my music from MC18, however my playlists weren't imported. Shouldn't the newer version automatically import my old playlists?

TIA

Playlists should be found and used automatically on Windows.

For Mac and Linux, just restore a backup from your old version.

Hello, upgraded a Master license to the MC31 Windows version (that is all I need now), and when I go to install it, it says that the licenses don't match.  How do I fix that?  I could upgrade to the Master, but have already paid for the Windows upgrade.

Thanks

Good evening all, I am wondering if it is possible to get help with reinstalling a license, I have paid for MC15 and have been using it many years now. My computer hard drive has been recently replaced and i need to install the MC15 license. It was so long ago i don't remember my user name, or password, hence i had to create a new account. I think i have the email address i used to purchase, but it is no longer my email address. I really don't want to upgrade because I'm really happy with MC15. Thank you for any help.

Trying to install MC31, currently on MC27. Windows 10 64 bit.
Installs ok, and operates on first boot of mC31. but thereafter, when I try to open MC31 it says:
WARNING
Media Center was installed for a different operating system. Please reinstall Media Center.
and it won't open. Reinstalled 5 times- same results. Any Help out there?

Make sure the install and application are running with no OS emulation.  Sometimes that can get turned on to "help" you.

I wish I had a clue what running an emulator means or how to fix it. I just wanted to upgrade my version to MC31 so the cd lookups would work. Apparently I am asking the wrong person the wrong way or not enough of an expert to belong to the club... if anyone can translate or help, I'm led to believe this is the place?

Ran the compatibility troubleshooter in windows, it kept suggesting to use Windows 8.  did not work. uninstalled MC27 and 31, then reinstalled 31 thinking that would click it over to W10. No go. So now basically, if I want to use mC31 I have to reinstall every time I want to use it or never close it.
My other PC's seem to be behaving fine on this...

Uninstalled, and tried MC30 . Same stuff. Something in Windows must be at work, Afraid I can't figure it out.

Did you try Microsoft support?  Start at Google, ask the question, and add microsoft.com to your search.

Yes I've tried all the windows troubleshooters I can find, and even updated/reinstalled W10.
I'm thinking everytime I download MC31 it keeps reverting to the last installed version of MC, and a setting in there is telling it to Run the emulator. I tried multiple times deleting MC, but when I go to download the MC31 version the message is always that it is upgrading from an old version(not a new install). Should I delete all the library files as well when I delete? I'm noticing that each time it loads it is reverting to a library list that is from before the upgrade. I have opened MC31 after the upgrade and updated the library to include recent added files, but then of course if I close MC31, it wont reopen, and then when I re-download 31 I am back to those newer files being absent. They were fine in MC27.
Now I'm thinking I either need a "NEW" install of MC31 (not an upgrade from previous version)(how to get that?) or i'm stuck with MC27, and now I have to go somewhere and find a version of that since I deleted it.

This isn't something that MC is doing.  It's Windows.  Read more about how that works at microsoft.com.

Make sure you're actually running MC31, not MC30.  That would be easy to do.  Also that you're not running the install file you downloaded.

It turns out this PC, although running Windows 10 just fine,  will only allow MC 27 or 31 to run in Windows 7 Compatibility mode. No idea why, but it won't load MC27 or 31 in Windows 10 environment or Windows 8.

« Reply #43 on: June 18, 2023, 07:14:51 am »

Playlists should be found and used automatically on Windows.

I upgraded from MC23 and MC26 to MC31.  Never used MC26 much but now due to the artwork issue I'm on MC31.  I really lover using JRiver especially with JRemote!

I like to support JRiver with the different versions but the two items below are something that has caused me to not upgrade several times since they take me time to fix.  I'm only a casual user perhaps although we use it every day.  It takes me a bit of time to figure out how to do this each time we upgrade.

I'm still trying to get smartlists over from MC23 to MC31 but it seems to convert them to standard playlists.  What I am doing is export then import then move them from the imported playlist folder to where they should be.  I did notice that it seemed to grab the MC26 playlists which I am grateful for.

Q1: Is there any way I can fix the issue with older smartlists changing to a playlist?

Likewise when I upgrade I always seem to lose my devices (renderers) as listed under playing now.

Q2: Should I be doing the upgrade differently to not have to set up my renderers from scratch?

Any time MC major versions are skipped when installing the latest MC (i.e. going from MC 23/26 to MC 31), the best approach is to restore everything from the very last backup (that MC automatically makes) from the prior MC version where everything was exactly as you wanted it (assuming you still have the MC 23/26 folder).

Manually restoring from the previous Major version backup has been nearly infallible.  I have given this advice/fix so often, and it works every time... except once (I forget what the issue was in that case).  In any case, it is very easy to do and generally only takes a couple minutes (depending on your MC database/library size).

There's a limit of how far back a library can be used to restore.  MC24?

In those cases, it might work to restore an MC23 library in MC24, for example, then restore a backup of MC24 to MC31.

It turns out this PC, although running Windows 10 just fine,  will only allow MC 27 or 31 to run in Windows 7 Compatibility mode. No idea why, but it won't load MC27 or 31 in Windows 10 environment or Windows 8.

What "exact" version of Windows are you running and how do you know it's 64 bit?

Anytime I have ever seen a reference to "emulator" and Windows in the same sentence it usually means a conflict in "bitness" of the OS and the app your are trying to run. Example - trying to run a 64bit version of MC on a 32bit version of Windows - that will never fly.

Any info on the OS version would help here.

sorry to use this link - I can't find a way to start a new message.  I have thousands of files, all recorded at different volume levels. Is there any to play them back at an average volume?  Search was of no help. Your guidance would be much appreciated. Currently using windows 10 & MC28.
thanks
