Hi;

I just downgraded from MC9. I uninstalled MC9 and then installed my registered MJ8. (an older version that still supported TV and DVD)

The problem is that MJ won't import or play any of my MP3's. I can't even open an MP3 using file/open media file.

It HAS imported all my .WAV and .WMA files. I check associations in MJ and in Windows, and MP3's are associated to MJ the way they're supposed to!

I don't want to install the latest build as I'd rather not lose the TV and DVD functionality.

HELP!!

Have you checked your Plugin Manager to be sure the mp3 input plugin is installed?

When you do the import, is mp3 checked off as one of the file types to import?

I have done those things. I will try the 8.0388 version to see if it works.

It MUST have something to do with having MC9 previously installed. Thinking that, I even used regclean to make sure that there weren't any JRiver registry settings still there before I installed MJ8.

BTW - MJ8 worked fine before I installed MC9.

Did you delete the MJ program directory before you started?  If you do this you will lose any playlists, and you may lose cover art if you've got it saved there (in data).

I had originally had MJ8 in a directory called D:\Program Files\Media Jukebox\

I then uninstalled MJ8 but did not delete that directory, and installed MC9 in D:\Program Files\Media Jukebox 9\

When I uninstalled MC9, I also deleted the MC9 directory, and all the registry entries.

I then installed MJ8 in a directory called D:\Program Files\Media Jukebox 8\ (note it's different than the previous MJ8 install) This was giving me the trouble I posted earlier about.

At your suggestion, I uninstalled MJ8, removed the registry entries, and deleted both MJ8 directories (D:\Program Files\Media Jukebox\ and D:\Program Files\Media Jukebox 8\)

Did a reinstall of MJ8, and voila! It imported my MP3s!

Kinda strange, though how the 2 directories interacted? I wasn't expecting that, and that's why I didn't bother to delete the original directory.
