Yes, others have been able to get into mine, but I've been denied from my office (see above).

It's running now if you want to try it  - 24.147.89.61:80. I'm trying to figure out why I'm being black-balled.

Sorry guys if you tried to connect to me earlier...I had to shut the PC down.  Media server is back up and running again now if anyone wants to test it...

Udeps>  MC doesn't even attempt to connect to your library it just fails straightaway saying Media Server failed to connect reverting to default library.  Have you tried it on port 80 rather than 81??

HTH and NoCodeUk, I'm able to connect to both of yours.

NoCodeUk, I just haven't got your libary to download completely as you already stated.

I wish MS would keep the library for later use instead of having to download it all again. Would also be even nicer if MS would keep our created View Schemes/Smartlists in addition to the users. That way I can navigate to what I want easier.

I would change to port 80 but Media Server crashes every time I select Options. It worked a couple versions ago, so hopefully, the next version will fix it for me.

I did listen to the untitled song. I liked it. Unfortunately, the buffering caused some skipping. I'll try again later...

If you're having trouble and you haven't done so, please copy your system info frmo MC Help and paste it here.

Check to see if something else is running on the same port.  You can't have two programs using one port at the same time.

Here's my system info. I have nothing running on port 81. Trying to get to the options in Media Server crashes the program, so I can't change it to another port. Every time someone (including me) tries to connect Media Server Crashes. System info:

Can't get Adams. For that matter, can't even get mine right now and Sygate is down. Will uninstall it, see if that makes a difference. Put off doing it so I wouldn't have to re-enter all my permissions but what the hell...

(At Jim's suggestion, I'm moving this from the 114 Bug thread.)

MS seems to be working at the server end, but from the client end I'm not able to access it or anything else for that matter, like King or Udeups libraries.

Is anyone else experiencing problems connecting?  114 installed at both ends.

Thanks...HTH

I'm having the opposite problem. I can get it to work on the client side but not from the server side. I have connected to two different libraries now, and successfully played music. However, on both my home and work computers, MS crashes every time someone tries to connect OR when I select options in the MS console window. Using 114 at both home and work. Here's my work sys info (posted my home info before...):

Media Center Registered 9.0.114 -- C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\

MS is now working. Don't know how or why. It took a while to load (18k files, about 4 minutes), so maybe the prior failures had to do with the timing out that Jim mentioned that seems to have been fixed in 114. Or maybe it was the Mandrake root I shook over the tower....

Michel,
How large is your library?

The timeout is set to 30 seconds.  We may have to increase that.

New bug in MS (MC v.115): On startup, it gives me error "Failed to bind. The port is not available. Please enter an available port number or choose automatic port selection in the Network options." regardless of what I have the port number set to. I have double checked and none of the ports that I set it to are in use. I tried about 10 before giving up. I also selected automatic port selection to no avail. Anyone else see this? Anything else I should try?

I see this in the status portion of the window:

02/18/03 17:10:21 - sharer starting
02/18/03 17:10:21 - Initializing server.
02/18/03 17:10:21 - Server initialized

Mine worked OK from the office. Lots of buffering, but with school closed, maybe just too much traffic.

Since the 115 build I can no longer connect to my Media Server on my home lan.

Is anyone else having this problem ?

I've also reported this in the '115' thread at the top of the page.

Thanks,

Mark

P.S. Everything worked before the 115 build (now it just tries to connect and then time-out)

23000+ files.

I quickly tried 115 this morning before to go to work and MC failed to connect again (both server and client with 115). But that seems different now: before it seems to find a server but the progress bar didn't progress until it failed with a time-out error, now (115) the progress bar doesn't appear anymore, as it doesn't find a server.
