need tip to rip lps
« on: January 08, 2003, 06:26:24 am »

As a test i riped some lps.
First ,if your lp is in good condition-mint- ,there is no need to 'clean' the rip.
You do not get skips and noises.
But you have to clean the record before playing it.

Here are the tips i ask for.

Do you know a program setting the sound level automatic?
What i mean like in tape players : you press on the Start button and the Reg one  at once ..et voila!!!

There is a way to import tags -artist,album,songs names from the web? Or the only way is to type all of it?

Did you use MJ's "Auto volume" button? It asks you to set the needle down on one of the louder parts of the LP, then press "Start" and it will determine the optimum volume level to avoid distortion. It's a little conservative so if you like more volume you can manually raise the volume level a little after the test is complete.
As far as tag info, you can enter the album and/or artist names and let MJ search the YADB database for a match. It will fill in the track names automatically.

Didn't know that. Saves a lot of peck and hunt.

By the way, the YADB database is surprisingly complete, at least for the kind of files I have. Don't miss CDDB at all.

Glad to hear it. Have you tried the individual track lookup or contributed fingerprints for any of your tracks?

As i said many time ,the same for me

I did not give any help to YADB since few weeks.
Will start again next month.
Spend now most of my time downloading songs ,sleeves ,infos from mp3.com ,before they remove most of the songs

Yes to Q 2. Haven't tried individual track lookup yet.
