Why does converting speed up audio??
« on: February 08, 2003, 10:28:30 am »

I have posted this once before with no real answer.

I have been trying to copy old cassettes to MP3s.  Sometimes I don't it make it back to the computer before the audio stops so I have to cut the blank audio at the end of the tracks with the Media Editor.  When I try to save the .WAV file to .MP3, I get speeded up audio (like the chipmunks).  The same thing occurs if I try to use the convert feature in MediaCenter to convert the .WAV file to .MP3.  The original recorded .MP3 file plays OK and the .WAV file created in the Media Editor plays OK but if I try to convert the .WAV to .MP3 it speeds up.

Anyone from J River have any ideas about this??

Thanks for your assistance,

Charlie

Try saving as wave and then using MC to convert.  Make sure you have the latest build.  109 is on Interact here.

Do not have an answer to you problem.
But a tip.

In recorder ,uncheck the Split tracks.
After click on Tracks on the top right ,you get a new window where you can enter name and time of the songs .
Like it you would get songs ,not a long file.
You can also try to get tracks names from YADB.
In this case ,2 things;
sometimes result is not very accurate- but not often-
And many tapes have not the same order than the cd or the lp concerning songs.

If you rip know artists you can use this window ,Yadb and AMG  to get all the infos.

Good luck!
